THE GEYSER EFFECT IN A TWO-PHASE THERMOSYPHON
An interesting phenomenon, which was observed during experimental research work carried out on a two-phase thermosyphon with water as the working fluid, is described. The phenomenon is a pulsed boiling at low pressure and was called the ′′Geyser Effect′′ . The heat transfer coefficient at the thermosyphon evaporator has been measured and a functional law, which links this coefficient with the pressure and the specific thermal flux, is proposed
Chemical and spectroscopic properties of two fractionsof soil organic matter obtained by electro-ultrafiltration
A soil sample, collected from vertisol in southern Italy and containing 3.7% of organic carbon, was extracted and fractionated by electro-ultrafiltration using a relatively low electric field and negative pressure. Micropore filters (20000 Da and 100000 Da) were selected to obtain two fractions of soil organic matter. E 4/E 6 ratios and analysis data were in agreement with values of fulvic and humic acids as reported in the literature. FT-IR spectra showed high absorption values in the region of carboxylic acid groups and medium intensity peaks in the region of frequencies ascribed to aliphatic chain absorptions. 1H-NMR spectra showed a resolution of signals as good as those previously reported for organic fractions that had been chemically extracted
Trimethylamine-borane as useful reagent in the N-acylation or N-alkylation of amines by carboxylic acids
Spectroscopic characterization of organic matter extracted by electro-ultrafiltration (EUF).
