Triskelionia Larsen & Congdon, gen. nov. Type species: Hyda tricerata Mabille, 1891. Bulletin de la Société Entomologique de Belgique 35: 106 (59–88, 106 – 121, 168 – 187). The genus Hyda (type species H. micacea Mabille, 1889, a junior synonym of Sarangesa tertullianus Fabricius, 1793) is a junior homonym of Hyda Walker, 1854 (a moth genus in Arctiinae). Conventionally placed in Sarangesa: Holland (1896) [subgenus Hyda] Aurivillius [in Seitz] (1925); Evans (1937); Larsen (2005).Published as part of Larsen, Torben B. & Congdon, Colin E., 2011, Triskelionia, a new African genus of the Celaenorrhinini (Lepidoptera: Hesperiidae) and the promotion of T. compacta to species-status., pp. 53-58 in Zootaxa 2931 on page 54, DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.27805

Water Hammer in Pumped Sewer Mains

This publication is intended for students and engineers seeking an introduction to the problem of water transients in pumped sewer and water mains. This is a subject of increasing interest because of the development of larger and more integrated systems. Consideration of transients is essential for the structural design of pipelines and for the planning of the proper function of the systems. The text is written by Torben Larsen, who is a professor of environmental hydraulics at the Department of Civil Engineering, Aalborg University. Torben Larsen has many years of experience with computer simulations of transients in pumped pipeline systems. This present publication can be understood as the second and revised edition of the pamphlet ”Transients in pumped sewer mains” (2006) which was published as a technical report by The EVA committee under The Danish Water Pollution Committee (The Danish Society of Engineers). All comments are welcome. This publication is intended for students and engineers seeking an introduction to the problem of water transients in pumped sewer and water mains.

Hypolycaena anara Larsen 1986

63. Hypolycaena anara Larsen, 1986 WL: 13mm. Larsen (2005) reports this species in dense savanna and dry forest, and we only collected a few specimens in the Cantanhez forest area. H. anara also occurs in Guinea (Fouta-Djallon and the National Park of Upper Niger), Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast and northeastern Nigeria. The host-plants are still unknown. Studied material. Cacheu: Caió, 1 specimen (JB). Tombali: Mato de Canamina (PNFC), 10.07.2009, 1♂ (BS 28847); Mato de Cambeque (PNFC), 10.07.2009, 1♂ (BS 28848). Previous references. Regions: Quinara. Authors: Ackery et al. (1995), Larsen (2005), Mendes et al. (2008). Probable abundance and proposed status. AB: NF; CS: VU.Published as part of Bivar-De-Sousa, António, Vasconcelos, Sasha, Mendes, Luís F., Larsen, Torben B., Baker, Jon & Guilherme, João L., 2016, Butterflies of Guinea-Bissau: VIII. New data, new reports, corrections and biodiversity (Lepidoptera: Papilionoidea), pp. 1-77 in Zootaxa 4201 (1) on page 23, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.4201.1.1, http://zenodo.org/record/19221

Notes on Some aspects of unsteady hydraulics of watercourses

These notes are prepared for the support of projects and courses about open channel flows in watercourses at Aalborg University. It is thought as continuation of, “Brorsen, Michael ; Larsen, Torben. / Lærebog i Hydraulik” (Compendium in Hydraulics) which is available in Danish. The intention of the notes is to prepare the reader for the use of the advanced commercial computer models available for solving hydraulic problems in watercourses and open channels. It is definitely not the intention to present the complete hydraulic theory behind those computer models. The specific details can be found in the literature and in the respective reference manuals for the computer models. The notes are under continuous development and any comments are welcome. Please send comments to Torben Larsen, Aalborg University, [email protected]
