Test Gothenburg:Walking in the footprints
This chapter explores how, and to what extent, our design interventions helped to create a better walking and cycling environment, where pedestrians and cyclists become more aware and attentive to each other. First, we discuss how the snow during the trial period affected the design. Second, it analyses to what degree the prints guided people’s movement and visual orientation. Third, we discuss how the interviewees evaluated the desig
Prototyping
Chapter 4 identified local problems or potentials and suggested possible design interventions to solve or enhance them in all of the locations. We now discuss how we – in dialogue with the municipal planners focus on one specific ‘design problem’ and prototype. Our designs follow a localised approach to designing places and altering behaviour. They respond to unique local problems identified through our studies of these places and their associated walking and public life practices (Carmona, 2017)
