    James Franklin Lane (2/18/1874- 12/11/1944), was the third President of Lane College, and son to Bishop Isaac Lane, founder of the college. He graduated from the school in 1891. He became a professor and principal at Lane College in 1901 in the Teacher's Training Department before serving as the college's President from 1907 until he died in 1944
