The Impact of strategic implementation on the employees and contractors of the Hewlett-Packard Company.

Conducted within the global corporation of the Hewlett-Packard Company, (HP),this research examines employee and contractor responses to strategic implementation. The research environment is a relatively small UK group withinthe corporation that has continuously experienced significant change as new strategies were implemented. Employee and contractor responses to three separate cycles of change are analysed together with data drawn from the wider corporation by using a psychological contract framework, semi-structured interviewing, a research diary and secondary data from the literature and electronic sources. The research is essentially qualitative but draws on quantitative data where appropriate. A case study approach within an action research paradigm is the chosen methodology to allow consideration and triangulation of multiple sources of data relevant to the natural workplace setting. The research has confirmed a change from old or original psychological contracts to new contracts where employees and contractors are more insecure in, and more cynical of, their employment. This change is perceived as a violation of their psychological contract and is causing employees and contractors to adopt a more mercenary approach to their employment with HP. The special bond between HP and its employees generated by the values and egalitarian working environment created by its founders has been broken by new leadership. Acquisition of the Compaq Computer Company has further impacted employees and contractors resulting in declining morale and increasing scepticism about its proposed benefits. Indeed the very legitimacy of the acquisition and the leadership of HP are being questioned as HP changes to a new form. According to the founders, the values established that made HP successful in its first fifty years were expected to continue for at least another fifty years. This research shows how changing these values has collectively impacted employees and contractors resulting in a major threat to the continuing existence of HP in its present form

Diplomdarba tēma ir uzņēmuma SIA „HP” attīstības problēmas. Informāciju par uzņēmuma saimniecisko darbību var iegūt no uzņēmuma atskaitēm: bilances, peļņas un zaudējumu aprēķina, naudas plūsmas pārskata. Atskaites veidojas no uzņēmuma grāmatvedības datiem. Darbā ir: 96 lappuses, 34 tabulas, 9 attēli, 4 pielikumiThe theme of the qualification work is limited liability company „HP” development problems. The information about company economic activity obtain from year accounting of the firm: balance, reveny and expendityre accounting. Book-keeping must by done by this way that the third kvalificated in book-keeping questions person could get the clear understanding about the financial situation of the firm and that ecomonic bargains for the necessary period of time. During the analyses of results of finansial situation and business of SIA „HP” were made such economical levels: 1.liquidation levels; 2.payable levels; 3.rentabilitation levels; 4.using levels; 5.balance sheet “gold” laws, also were made analyses and dynamic changes. The obtained results are processing. At this basis make conclusions and proposes. In the conclusions certify limited liability Company „HP” economic situation. Proposes make advices to improve firm economic activity and future developing. Work contains: 96 pages, 34 tables, 9 drawings, 4 additions

In this paper, we introduce new types of generalized convex functions which include locally (Hp, r)-pre-invex functions and (Hp, r)-invex functions. Relationship between these two new classes of functions are established. We also present the conditions for optimality in differentiable mathematical programming problems where the functions considered are (Hp, r)-invex functions introduced in this paper.

We have recently conducted a large scale epidemiolgy study to document the prevalence and risk factors for Hp infection among the healthy elderly. Previous studies were limited by the small sample size. Materials & methods Sera obtained from 1698 asymptomatic Chinese subjects (239 males, 987 females; mean age 70.6 yrs, range 56-95 yrs) were tested for anti-Hp IgG antibody by using the GAP IgG ELISA kits (Bio-Rad). Their liver function tests and lipid profiles were also examined. Dietary habits were evaluated by a standard questionnaire. Multivariate analysis was performed to test the correlation between Hp infection and these parameters (blood tests and dieiary habits). Results 1226/1698 subjects (72.2%) were positive for anti-Hp antibody. Overall, the males (78.1%) had a significantly higher Hp + rate than the females (70.9%) (P<0.01). There was no appreciable difference in the Hp+ rates for both sexes within each Centile between 56-95 years. Furthermore, there was no evidence of singificant increase in Hp carrier rates with advancing age among this population. Hypoalbuminemia (< 40g/l) but not other biochemical parameters was associated with a higher Hp + rates (p < 0.05). There was no correlation between the lipid profiles (cholesterols & triglycerides) and Hp + rates. An inverse relationship between the frequency of nuts consumption and Hp + rates was observed (p < 0.01). Other dietary (consumption of fast food, sea food, preserved food etc.) and cooking habits (type of cooking oil, boiled, fried or grill etc.) had no influence on the Hp+ rates. ' : Conclusions (1) The overall Hp + rate among the elderly Chinese in Hong Kong was approx. 70%; it reaches a plateau between the age of 56-65 yrs. (2) Men had significantly higher Hp carrier rates than women. (3)Hp+ rates did not increase with advancing age in the elderly between 56-95 yrs. (4) Hypoalbuminemia was associated with higher Hp+ rates which may reflect chronic underlying malnutrition. (5) Consuming nuts frequently may have a protective effect against Hp infection.link_to_subscribed_fulltextDigestive Disease Week and the 95th Annual Meeting of the American Gastroenterological Association, San Diego, CA, 14–17 May 1995.
