Izgorelost na delu in kontraproduktivno delovno vedenje zaposlenih v jordanski banki
Background/Purpose: This study investigated the relationship between job burnout and counterproductive work behavior (CWB) among 307 employees drawn from various banks within Jordan. This study also examined the levels of job burnout and CWB with regard to gender, age, marital status, and education. Methodology: For data collection, the convenience sampling method is utilized to survey frontline bank employees. The Oldenburg Burnout Inventory scale, which assesses exhaustion, disengagement, and the CWB scale from the Individual Work Performance Questionnaire (IWPQ), were used for data collection. The data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Science 25.0. Results: The study results suggest that there is a significant positive relationship between job burnout two dimensions and CWB. The research also shows that age, education, and marital status affect both job burnout and CWB. Nevertheless, gender was found to have a significant effect only on the disengagement dimension of job burnout. Further, the study implies that exhaustion and disengagement are vital predictors influencing CWB. Conclusion: With regard to the results, the phenomena of job burnout provide the means that can provoke deviant behavior in the workplace.Ozadje / namen: Raziskali smo razmerje med izgorelostjo na delovnem mestu in kontraproduktivnim delovnim vedenjem (CWB) med 307 zaposlenimi iz različnih bank v Jordaniji. Proučili smo tudi stopnje izgorelosti in CWB glede na spol, starost, zakonski stan in izobrazbo. Metodologija: Za zbiranje podatkov smo uporabili metoda priročnega vzorčenja za anketiranje zaposlenih v prvih bankah. Za zbiranje podatkov so uporabili lestvico Oldenburg (OLBI), ki ocenjuje izčrpanost in izključenost, in lestvico CWB iz vprašalnika za individualno delovno uspešnost (IWPQ). Podatki so bili analizirani z uporabo paketa SPSS 25.0. Rezultati: Študija je pokazala, da obstaja pomembna pozitivna povezava med dvema dimenzijama izgorelosti dela in CWB. Raziskava tudi kaže, da starost, izobrazba in zakonski stan vplivajo tako na izgorelost službe kot na CWB. Pokazalo pa se je, da spol pomembno vpliva le na dimenzijo »ne-angažiranost« na delovnem mestu. Poleg tega študija kaže, da sta izčrpanost in neangažiranost ključna napovednika, ki vplivata na CWB. Zaključek: Glede na naše rezultate, pojav izgorelosti na delovnem mestu lahko povzroči deviantno vedenje na delovnem mestu

What role an agent could play at home?: Exploring the social roles of smart home system based on a content analysis
Smart home systems not only serve users to fulfill pragmatic goals, but also ‘live with’ users. Despite the conceptual possibilities, it still remains unclear whether and what social roles current smart home systems are intended by the companies. In this paper, we report a retrospective study on 15 selected smart home systems (SHSs) on current market. We used content analysis to identify themes and categories of function, personality and social role of these SHSs, and also explore the connections among them. Four representative social roles were identified: instrument, lobby boy, assistant and family member. Four related personalities were found: competent, helpful, trustworthy, and caring. Results of this study revealed an overview of current social roles that smart home system plays as well as the personalities they exhibit.Design Aesthetic

A review and framework of Control Authority Transitions in automated driving
The paper reviews some of the essentials of human-machine interaction in automated driving, focusing on control authority transitions. We introduce a driving state model describing the human monitoring level and the allocation of lateral and longitudinal control tasks. An authority transition in automated driving is defined as the process of changing from one static state of driving to another static state. Based on (1) who initiates the transition and (2) who is in control after the transition, we categorize transitions into four types: driver-initiated driver control (DIDC), driver-initiated automation control (DIAC), automation-initiated driver control (AIDC), and automation-initiated automation control (AIAC). Enabling Long-term Fairness in Dynamic Resource Allocation
We study the fairness of dynamic resource allocation problem under the α-fairness criterion. We recognize two different fairness objectives that naturally arise in this problem: the well-understood slot-fairness objective that aims to ensure fairness at every timeslot, and the less explored horizon-fairness objective that aims to ensure fairness across utilities accumulated over a time horizon. We argue that horizon-fairness comes at a lower price in terms of social welfare. We study horizon-fairness with the regret as a performance metric and show that vanishing regret cannot be achieved in presence of an unrestricted adversary. Review of Eye-related Measures of Drivers’ Mental Workload
AbstractThe assessment of mental workload could be helpful to road safety especially if developments of vehicle automation will increasingly place drivers into roles of supervisory control. With the rapidly decreasing size and increasing resolution of cameras as well as exponential computational power gains, remote eye measurements are growing in popularity as non-obtrusive and non-distracting tools for assessing driver workload. This review summarizes literature on the relation between eye measurement parameters and drivers’ mental workload. Various eye activity measures including blinks, fixations, and saccades have previously researched and confirmed as useful estimates of a driver's mental workload. Additionally, recent studies in pupillometry have shown promise for real-time prediction and assessment of driver mental workload after effects of illumination are accounted for. Specifically, workload increases were found to be indicated by increases in blink latency, PERCLOS, fixation duration, pupil dilation, and ICA; by decreases in blink duration and gaze variability; and with mixed results regarding blink rate. Given such a range of measures available, we recommend using multiple assessment methods to increase validity and robustness in driver assessment
An International Crowdsourcing Study into People's Statements on Fully Automated Driving
AbstractFully automated driving can potentially provide enormous benefits to society. However, it has been unclear whether people will appreciate such far-reaching technology. This study investigated anonymous textual comments regarding fully automated driving, based on data extracted from three online surveys with 8,862 respondents from 112 countries. Initial filtering of comments with fewer than 15 characters resulted in 1,952 comments. The sample consisted primarily of males (74%) and had a mean age of 32.6 years. Next, we launched a crowdsourcing job and asked 69 workers to assign each of the 1,952 comments to at least one of 12 predefined categories, which included positive and negative attitude to automated driving, enjoyment in manual driving, concerns about trust, reliability of software, and readiness of road infrastructure. 46% of the comments were classified into the category ‘no meaningful information about automated driving’, leaving 792 comments for further analysis. 39% of the comments were classified as ‘positive attitude towards automated driving’ and 23% were classified as ‘negative attitude towards automated driving’. In conclusion, the public opinion appears to be split, with a substantial number of respondents being positive and a significant number of respondents being negative towards fully automated driving
