The Link between the Intrinsic Motivation to Comply and Compliance Behavior: A Critical Appraisal of Existing Evidence

    Get PDF
Recent economic literature emphasizes the importance of moral considerations to explain compliance behavior with respect to underground activities such as tax evasion. A considerable amount of research aims to identify factors that affect the intrinsic motivation to comply. However, the causal link between the intrinsic motivation to comply and actual compliance behavior is not established yet. We provide a discussion of the underlying identification problem and suggest (potentially) feasible empirical strategies to uncover a causal effect.social norms, shadow economy, tax evasion, tax compliance, benefit fraud, tax morale, benefit morale

Mitigation of leakage-ground currents in transformerless grid-tied inverters via virtual-ground connection

    No full text
This article studies the benefits of the virtual-ground (VG) connection for single-phase transformerless grid-tied inverters, which is used to mitigate the leakage-ground currents (LGCs) issue. This article also proposes common-mode and differential-mode models of single-phase inverters connected to the grid through an LCL output filter, which are used as a theoretical support. It is shown that LGCs are simply common-mode currents (CMCs) circulating through the ground path, which represents a contribution in the development of an approach to find solutions in general scenarios. In most of the cases, these currents are produced by the existence of common-mode voltages (CMVs), which find a way through the ground path established after the stray capacitances in the terminals of, for instance, photovoltaic (PV) panels. To prove the advantages of the proposed interconnection and for analysis, the single-phase full-bridge version of a two-level conventional inverter, as well as a neutral-point-clamped (NPC) inverter, is considered for model derivation and experimental validation.</p

This dissertation proposes an interpretation of 11 texts of Jorge Luis Borges essay book Historia de la Eternidad under the perspective of Rhetoric and its figures of speech on the construction of arguments. It also brings an overview of the Greek and Roman Rhetoric history, analyzing Aristotle, Gorgias, Isocrates, Cato, Cicero, all the way to modern exponents, such as Chaïm Perelman, Lucie Olbrechts-Tyteca and Oliver Reboul. It also proposes relating the Borgian essays to the Epideictic genre, replacing the figure of the speaker-audience by the author-reader, bringing the rhetoric discourse closer to the reality of the reader

The labyrinth of representation in the literature of Jorge Luis Borges

(Texto tomado de la fuente)The Labyrinth of Representation in the Literature of Jorge Luis Borges This work explores, based on five stories by the argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges, the way in which representation plays a role in the creation of literary images. These images imply the execution of the metaphor as a narrative tool, with which it is possible to describe otherwise impossible objects and phenomena. This is the case of the image of random, which takes shape with the multiple images of labyrinths proposed by the author. It will be seen that this exploration contemplates the relations with the Jewish, Christian and Greek traditions, for this reason mythological ties are drawn. Finally, an effort is proposed to describe geometrically and spatially some of these labyrinths within the stories.MaestríaMagíster en EstéticaÁrea Curricular de Ciencias Humanas y Sociale
