La Segunda Escolástica: una categoría historiográfica que reconsiderar

    No full text
The idea already expressed by the Spanish Jesuit Juan Bautista Genér in 1776 in his Scholastica vindicata, seu Dissertatio Historico-Chronologico-Critico-Apologetica pro Theologia Scholastica of a period of decadence of the Golden Scholastica, which was followed by that of its rebirth, took shape in 1943 in the syntagm "Second scholasticism" coined by another Jesuit, Carlo Giacon, and, by now, taken to the historiographical category as it is still used today by various scholars, even though it often indicates objects of study and research spaces that do not always coincide. The contribution thus investigates the genesis of this historiographic category of "Second Scholastic" to evaluate its holding and its current "right of use"

Almost global existence for some Hamiltonian PDEs on manifolds with globally integrable geodesic flow

    No full text
In this paper we prove an abstract result of almost global existence for small and smooth solutions of some semilinear PDEs on Riemannian manifolds with globally integrable geodesic flow. Some examples of such manifolds are Lie groups (including flat tori), homogeneous spaces and rotational invariant surfaces. As applications of the abstract result we prove almost global existence for a nonlinear Schrödinger equation with a convolution potential and for a nonlinear beam equation. We also prove Hs stability of the ground state in NLS equation. The proof is based on a normal form procedure and the combination of the arguments used in Bambusi and Langella (2022 arXiv:2202.04505) to bound the growth of Sobolev norms in linear systems and a generalization of the arguments in Bambusi et al (2024 Commun. Math. Phys. 405 253-85)

On Power Electronic Converter's Architecture and Control for Overtopping Breakwater for Wave Energy Conversion

    No full text
This paper discusses the power electronic converter's architecture and control for overtopping breakwater for wave energy conversion (OBREC) systems for the first time for this kind of technology. After a recall of the main OBREC's components, their dynamic models and control strategies are briefly summarized. Then, an innovative maximum power point tracking strategy is proposed, and a proactive overview of different existing power electronic architectures to connect the OBREC system to the harbour's electrical distribution systems is conducted. The whole converter's control design process is preliminarily tested utilizing the processor-in-the-loop tool implemented in the Matlab environment. Finally, two numerical case studies on a realistic scenario are discussed and commented

Numerical Modeling of Resistance Welding Process in Joining ofThermoplastic Composite Materials Using Comsol Multiphysics

    No full text
This paper deals of a technology involved in the joining of thermoplastic composites, the resistance welding technology. This process take advantage in the repeatable melting process for the thermoplastic resins. The process was numerically modelled to study the effect of the two main process parameters, the electric power density applied to the heating elements and the exposure time at the electric current
