Dr. Rogers came to North Texas State College in 1953 to be Director of News Service and a member of the faculty of the Department of Journalism. Over the next 43 years, he would hold a variety of positions, including Assistant to the President (1964), Vice President for Administrative Affairs (1965-1971), Director of University Planning (1971-1978), and Acting Chair of the Journalism Department (1983-1985). Dr. Rogers was also author of The Story of North Texas, the first history of the university, which was written in commemoration of North Texas State University's 75th anniversary
