Il Frasario Bawlé di padre Vincent Guerry

    No full text
The present study is a commented edition of a bawlé phrase, originally written in French and then translated into Italian, written by Father Vincent Guerry, a Benedictine monk whose work on bawlé culture is universally known. His book, "La vie giornidienne dans a village baoulé", is a classic repeatedly reprinted. The "Frasario" by Father Vincent Guerry is not a vocabulary, although it has, at least in part, the external structure: it is quite rare that the author signals limbs for their semantic specificity. It is not an aid to learn the language, since the gaps are too obvious, and not even a collection of "useful" phrases, since even in this respect gaps would be too much. It reflects a real experience: there are many phrases that in themselves do not mean what Father Guerry translates, but they are understandable only in a particular context: in these cases the author is limited to recording some phrases in relation to Certain situations

Harrison-Guerry-Brannon-Crawford Family Cemetery Marker Georgetown, GA

The marker reads: HARRISON - GUERRY - BRANNON - CRAWFORD FAMILY CEMETERY Approximately 200 yards SW is an old family graveyard where lie buried many distinguished Georgians. Capt. James Harrison, one of the earlier settlers of this area, rests here. His home, begun 1837, was the first frame house in this area and was built near this cemetery. Lt. Col. Theodore LeGrande Guerry, CSA, President of the Ga. Senate, 1858- 1860, and author of the bill creating Quitman Co., also lies here. Col. Guerry organized and served as first Capt. of the “Quitman Grays”, later Co. I, 11th Ga. Vol. Inf. Regt. He later rose to Lt. Col. and served as executive officer of the 11th. Here lies 2nd Lt. John Benjamin Guerry, CSA, of Co. I, 11th Ga. Inf. Lt. Guerry was killed at the Battle of Second Manassas, Va., August, 1862. Here also is Lt. James B. Harrison, CSA, of Co. F, 61st Ga. Inf., killed fighting valiantly at the Battle of the Wilderness, Va., 1864. Capt. Edward B. Brannon, CSA, who commanded Co. I after the Battle of Gettysburg, Pa., 1863, when its commander Capt. F. M. Bledsoe was captured, was originally buried in this cemetery, but was later moved to the cemetery at Georgetown Baptist Church. Also buried here is Col. William “Red” Harrison, CSA, who organized and led the 6th La. Cav. Regt., and Major William Lewis Crawford, first pastor of the Georgetown Baptist Church. 118-3 GEORGIA HISTORICAL COMMISSION 1961 Top of sign: The Great Seal of Georgia – Georgia 1776 Constitution Justice Wisdom Moderationhttps://digitalcommons.unf.edu/historical_architecture_main/8462/thumbnail.jp

Mapping protein conformational energy landscapes using NMR and molecular simulation

    No full text
Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy provides detailed understanding of the nature and extent of protein dynamics on physiologically important timescales. We present recent advances in the combination of NMR with state-of-the-art molecular simulation that are providing unique new insight into the motions on timescales from nanoseconds to milliseconds. In particular, we focus on methods based on residual dipolar couplings (RDCs) that allow for detailed mapping of the protein conformational energy landscape. A novel combination of RDCs with accelerated molecular dynamics allows for the development of ensemble representations of the underlying Boltzmann ensemble. A star is born: We present recent advances in the combination of NMR with state of the art molecular simulation that allows a detailed mapping of the protein conformational energy landscape. A novel combination of RDCs with accelerated molecular dynamics provides robust determination of ensemble representations of the underlying Boltzmann ensemble present in solution. © 2013 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Sol–gel produced sodium calcium phosphosilicates for bioactive applications: Synthesis and structural characterisation

    No full text
A series of phosphosilicates P(2)O(5) (45 mol%)-CaO (20-40 mol%)-Na(2)O (5-20 mol%)-SiO(2) (10-15 mol%) has been synthesised by the sol-gel route using PO(OH)(3-x)(OC(2)H(5))(x) (x = 1, 2) as the phosphorus precursor. Evolution of the gels with temperature was studied using thermogravimetric analysis and differential thermal analysis. These phosphosilicates show good stability against crystallisation remaining fully amorphous even after calcination at 400 degrees C. The short-range structure of the stabilised sol-gel glasses and the effect of adding modifier oxides to the network structure have been investigated using a combination of techniques: FT-IR spectroscopy, (31)P magic angle spinning NMR, high energy XRD and P L-edge XANES

Mapping the population of protein conformational energy sub-states from NMR dipolar couplings

    No full text
Molecular dynamics: A general method for the statistical mechanical description of conformational energy landscapes of proteins in solution is proposed. This method combines NMR residual dipolar couplings (RDCs), sampling of conformational space using accelerated molecular dynamics simulation, and ensemble selection using model-free ensemble interpretation of RDCs
