Influence of Salt Quantity on Recovery Yield of Heterogeneous Aluminium Scrap

    No full text
The influence of the salt quantity on the recovery yield of aluminium scrap was studied considering an heterogeneous charge. The analysed heterogeneous charge was composed by different types of scrap such as turning, shredded materials and dross. The amount of salt was related to the scrap quality using the salt factor, which is defined as the ratio between the nonaluminium content in the scrap and the quantity of salt required. Two levels of salt factor were considered, 1.2 and 1.8. The analysis of variance was then implemented to verify the influence of the salt quantity on the recovery yield. The results were statistically confirmed using the Anderson-Darling test, the Dixon’s outliers test and the coefficient of variance. An increment of the recovery yield from 95% to 97% was revealed by increasing the salt factor from 1.2 to 1.8

Defibrotide: Properties and clinical use of an old/new drug

AbstractThe drug named defibrotide (DFT) has been studied for many years. It has been shown to possess many activities: profibrinolytic, antithrombotic–thrombolytic, antiischemic (heart, liver, kidney, skin, brain), antishock, antiatherosclerotic, antirejection and anti-angiogenic. The previously displayed activities, as antithrombotic, profibrinolytic and anti-inflammatory, suggested its use in vascular disorders, as in the treatment of peripheral obliterative arterial disease and in thrombophlebitis. Some years after, the use of DFT in hepatic veno-occlusive disease has been also proposed. Even if DFT was considered for long time a multi-target drug, now it could be considered on the whole as a drug able to protect endothelium against activation. The present work reviews the more important experimental and clinical studies performed to detect DFT effects

    An Incident Response Support System

Computer and network security can be improved by three kinds of tools: tools for intrusion prevention, tools for intrusion detection, and tools for incident response. Many systems have been proposed and developed for the first two kinds of tools. Concerning the third, as far as we know, the response plan is still left to the security manager: no automatic tools have been developed. Indeed, even if there exist forensic analysis, data recovery, and system upgrading tools, we do not yet have a comprehensive tool which includes log correlation, attack classification, and response plan generation. Our work deals with a Case-Based Reasoning system (called IRSS) that classifies attacks, looks in a case base for past attacks similar to the current one (according to given similarity metrics), and reuses the past response plans (adapted to the current attack) in order to restore normal conditions and improve network security. This paper provides an overview of the system and primarly focuses on the incident retrieval (attack classification) phas
