Introduzione
The text introduces some results of activity of the study coordinated by Andrea Sciascia and the working of the group composed by Gaetano Cuccia, Emanuele Palazzotto, Adriana Sarro and Luciana Macaluso as part of the research program entitled "The architecture of the churches in Sicily after the Second Vatican Council (FFR 2012).
The working group has gradually developed the idea, to understand, in the field of action research, the influences and contaminations found among cultic architecture of the Mediterranean, extending the research work other scholars (Valentina Acierno, Mauro Bertagnin, Tania Culotta, Giuseppe Di Benedetto, Giuseppe Marsala, Isabella Daidone, Mariaelena Ferraro, Luigi Pintacuda, Laura Sciortino, Flavia Zaffora).
The liturgical architecture theme, addressed in most of the essays in the volume, stems from the fruitful cooperation that has developed between the Chair of Architectural design of Pasquale Culotta, the then Faculty of Architecture of Palermo, the Department of History and Design Architecture and the Center for Studies on Arts for direct Liturgy by Monsignor Crispino Valenziano. Pasquale Culotta, in the same years, he joined the research and teaching intensive project activity, in Sicily and elsewhere in Italy, facing their own liturgical architecture.
The first part, dedicated to "The architecture of worship in Sicily", traces through certain significant examples of the issues in these post-conciliar years have emerged in relation to the construction of new churches or liturgical adaptation of existing ones.
The second part, entitled "Mediterranean, contamination and influences", examines the ability of archaic and archetypal forms of the sacred space to leave traces of their existence, mingling and crossing, in the constant, cyclic creation of a new order, finding food in the differences and the peculiarities of the different historical and religious realities.
Finally, the third part deals with the reflection on the stay, from ancient to contemporary times, of the principles that inform the place and time where cult architecture appear connected to each other in an attempt to give breath of transcendence and sacredness to the space organized and It designed, in a passage that is always consecration and transit.
As noted by Giuliano Gresleri in the afterword, on the one hand there is, in the various contributions, the assumption of a "critical" look that passes through the post-conciliar liturgical architectural productions of at least five decades, on the other emerges Sicilian religious architecture specificity and Sicily, recognizable in the idea of a close friend and osmotic relationship with the places, and the achievement of a formal and spatial condition "austere". The book is dedicated to Pasquale Culotta
The Holonic Production System: a Multi Agent Simulation Approach
Today’s turbulent markets are facing unpredictable and sudden variations in demand. In this context, the Holonic Production System (HPS) seems to be able to overcome the operational and economic problems of traditional production
systems. The HPS’ ability to adapt and react to business environment changes, whilst maintaining systemic synergies
and coordination, leverage on its network organizational structure, assuring both flexibility and profitability. In this
paper we study HPS experimentally, modeling holon-firms as agents. In our simulation, holon-firms interact both with
each other and with the external environment without predetermined hierarchies and following their own aims and internal decision rules with a negotiation-based control system. The Multi Agent System Approach we propose aims to
evaluate and test the performance of the HPS to adjust to changes in market demand by simulating variations in
holon-firms’ capacity and reconfiguration costs in real time in a distributed enterprise network. Hence we demonstrate
that, through a collaborative negotiation approach, the HPS results in a better adaptability and improved network responsiveness

Developing business networking opportunities for SMEs through business ecosystem and ICT
Globalisation is a new challenge for European small and medium enterprises; indeed, on one hand, it represents a threat, since new emerging companies are entering their domestic market, but on the other hand, it represents the opportunity to enter new emerging and growing markets. In order to win this challenge, European SMEs need to play the networking card; in fact, it is well acknowledged that networking can improve SMEs effectiveness and efficiency which is absolutely necessary to win the globalisation battle. Many public regional institutions are thinking about how to improve the networking capacity of their SMEs through specific programs and investments. This paper reports the results of an ongoing research project aiming at improving the networking capacity of SMEs through an innovative conception of the business ecosystem idea. The paper shows how the innovative networking business ecosystem has been conceived and how it works for pursuing this aim
Between Self-Organizing and Accelerating Networks: Untangling Strategic Networks Cognitive Dynamics
This paper aims to detect the crucial determinants and processes that shape the emergence and evolution of interfirm network cognitive morphology. We pinpoint three relatively distinct but coexistent levels which define the fundamental structure of the network: the microsystemic (or the single firm) level; the mesosystemic (or the groups of firms within the network) level; and the macrosystemic (or the overarching network) level. Then, we integrate the complex system perspective (Morin, 1977; Prigogine & Stengers, 1984; Anderson, 1999) applied to networks with studies regarding theoretical models that elucidate network structuring and dynamics cultivated in the new “science of networks” (Barabási, 2002; Watts, 2003) in such a way to typify the mesosystemic level as an accelerating network and the macrosystemic level as a self-organizing network. Finally, we represent multilevel network cognitive dynamics by means of a three-level cognitive shape that we term ‘network cognitive domain’ and dissect the correspondent multilevel governance scope of the network cognitive sub-domains
