No full textIn this work, emphasis is placed on the need to frame Grasso's work between a writing tradition that has the Verga model as its watermark and her personal linguistic innovation. A comparative analysis of two texts is conducted: La Lupa by Giovanni Verga and Il bastardo di Mautàna by Silvana Grasso. The two works allow us to observe a stratified composition of the language, which for both authors enjoys references to the dialect drawn from a linguistic heritage mediated by literature and popular traditions, but in the case of Grasso also contains numerous autochthonisms, not present in Verga . Silvana Grasso takes up and exaggerates the key themes of Verga's work, but proposes a new writing, which takes the form of a recognizable style upon opening the book, thanks to the use of expressions and stylistic features that the author draws directly from her linguistic micro-area and which he is not afraid to use, unlike Verga, who prefers to hide dialect forms and lexemes, faithful to his poetics, and prefers a standard dialect mediated through literature. A lexical and morphosyntactic analysis is conducted in order to show how Grasso's language takes up and exaggerates the two tracks of the Verga language through an extreme use of aulicisms and the addition of dysphemisms

per un autore di indubbio rilievo scolastico come Verga. Le nuove prospettive
storiografiche mettono in luce un Ottocento letterario articolato in diverse
esperienze regionali e non esclusivamente raccolto attorno alla linea dominante
del romanticismo patriottico e identitario; ne deriva che anche il tardo Ottocento,
valorizzato anche dalla nuova prima prova dell’esame di stato, deve essere liberato
da cesure troppo nette e ricollocato nel quadro complessivo.The contribution reaffirms the importance of a connection between didactic and research,
especially for an author of undoubted scholastic importance such as Verga.
The new historiographical perspectives highlight a nineteenth‐century articulated
in different regional literary experiences and not exclusively gathered around the
dominant line of patriotic and identity romanticism; it follows that even the late nineteenth
century, also promoted by the new state exam, must be freed from excessively
sharp caesuras and relocated in the overall system

Il progetto è stato quello di un riattraversamento della produzione verghiana – anche a partire dall’analisi di suoi aspetti specifici – al fine di individuare, attraverso una molteplicità di approcci metodologici, i nodi problematici ancora aperti, le linee di indagine che si ritengono oggi maggiormente produttive, le strade da percorrere nel fronte più avanzato della ricerca sull’opus autoriale e sul verismo, attivando un confronto fra le diverse prospettive di ricerca
Benefits of music on verbal learning and memory: How and when does it work?
No full textA long-standing debate in cognitive neurosciences concerns the effect of music on verbal learning and memory. Research in this field has largely provided conflicting results in both clinical as well as non-clinical populations. Although several studies have shown a positive effect of music on the encoding and retrieval of verbal stimuli, music has also been suggested to hinder mnemonic performance by dividing attention. In an attempt to explain this conflict, we review the most relevant literature on the effects of music on verbal learning and memory. Furthermore, we specify several mechanisms through which music may modulate these cognitive functions. We suggest that the extent to which music boosts these cognitive functions relies on experimental factors, such as the relative complexity of musical and verbal stimuli employed. These factors should be carefully considered in further studies, in order to reliably establish how and when music boosts verbal memory and learning. The answers to these questions are not only crucial for our knowledge of how music influences cognitive and brain functions, but may have important clinical implications. Considering the increasing number of approaches using music as a therapeutic tool, the importance of understanding exactly how music works can no longer be underestimated

No full textLa novella di Giovanni Verga "Certi argomenti", è una delle meno conosciute dell'autore, è stata scritta nel 1875, nell'ambito del cantiere letterario di "Tigre reale" e pubblicata nella raccolta "Primavera". Il racconto offre uno spaccato della società aristocratica meridionale, frivola e inconsistente, poco prima che l'autore vada concentrandosi sulle tematiche veriste. L'interesse di questo saggio è incentrato sulla trattazione che Verga fa del brigantaggio nell'Appennino fra Napoli e le Puglie, ed è teso a verificare quale rappresentazione di questo fenomeno storico vi sia in Verga prima de "L'amante di Gramigna". Si tratta di una rappresentazione del brigantaggio molto convenzionale, priva di accenti politici marcati e non orientata a vedere nei briganti dei patrioti del Sud borbonico. Il liberale Verga, insomma non partecipa alla creazione del mito brigantesco, semmai raccoglie elementi di quella costruzione precedente per usarli nel suo bozzetto, dove essi non sono neppure protagonisti, ma soltanto un pretesto narrativo

No full textThe theme "Law and Violence" has been addressed by a series of authoritative researchers in the last century and, more recently, by authors that paid attention, from different perspectives, to the risks of violence emerging out of juridical rules. The argumentation of the paper starts from Walter Benjamin’s essay: "For the criticism of the violence", in which the author investigates the connections between violence and law, distinguishing between violence that establishes law and violence that preserves it. Violence, present at the origin of the right, if it is practiced beyond legal norms puts its own existence in danger. In his work Foucault describes modern devices of power-knowledge as tools utilized by conservative violence of the law in force. Girard’s theory tells us about the missed acknowledgment of the fundamental founder’s violence. The sacrifice ritual’s violence protects the whole community from its own violence. The most effective remedy against the violence instigated by the mimetic conflict can be identified in the juridical system’s transcendence, able to practice a third and definitive violence that interrupts the circle of the revenge
