    In 1886 Lycurgus Johnson moved the L. Johnson and Sons, a general merchandise store, to the Big Elephant Store located in the northeast corner of Main and Vernal Avenue. Lycurgus was an early entrepreneur who was joined by two sons. The building was torn down in 1913 and the Uintah Stake Bank was built on this location. L. Johnson Store or the Big Elephant Store was located on the corner of Vernal Avenue and North Main Street
