    No full text
AbstractThe index formula of scattering operators of the previous paper of the author (T. Matsui, The index of scattering operators of Dirac equations, Commun. Math. Phys.110 (1987) 553–571) is shown to hold for a wider class of potentials which contains both gauge potentials with compactly supported energy and instantontype potentials

This article appeared in Tatsunosuke Matsui, Masanori Ozaki, and Katsumi Yoshino, Appl. Phys. Lett. 83, 422 (2003) and may be found at https://doi.org/10.1063/1.1593827.Optically pumped distributed feedback lasing has been demonstrated in a dye-doped nematic liquid crystal (NLC) waveguide by holographic excitation. The excitation was performed by two-beam interference using Lloyd mirror configuration. With an applied electric field, continuous tuning of the lasing wavelength was realized due to the change of the effective refractive index of the NLC core layer caused by the reorientation of NLC molecules

A new proof of the Bondal-Orlov reconstruction using Matsui spectra

    No full text
In 2005, Balmer defined the ringed space SpecT\operatorname{Spec}_\otimes \mathcal{T} for a given tensor triangulated category, while in 2023, the second author introduced the ringed space SpecT\operatorname{Spec}_\vartriangle \mathcal{T} for a given triangulated category. In the algebro-geometric context, these spectra provided several reconstruction theorems using derived categories. In this paper, we prove that SpecXLPerfX\operatorname{Spec}_{\otimes_X^\mathbb{L}} \operatorname{Perf} X is an open ringed subspace of SpecPerfX\operatorname{Spec}_\vartriangle \operatorname{Perf} X for a quasi-projective variety XX. As an application, we provide a new proof of the Bondal-Orlov and Ballard reconstruction theorems in terms of these spectra. Recently, the first author introduced the Fourier-Mukai locus SpecFMPerfX\operatorname{Spec}^\mathsf{FM} \operatorname{Perf} X for a smooth projective variety XX, which is constructed by gluing Fourier-Mukai partners of XX inside SpecPerfX\operatorname{Spec}_\vartriangle \operatorname{Perf} X. As another application of our main theorem, we demonstrate that SpecFMPerfX\operatorname{Spec}^\mathsf{FM} \operatorname{Perf} X can be viewed as an open ringed subspace of SpecPerfX\operatorname{Spec}_\vartriangle \operatorname{Perf} X. As a result, we show that all the Fourier-Mukai partners of an abelian variety XX can be reconstructed by topologically identifying the Fourier-Mukai locus within SpecPerfX\operatorname{Spec}_\vartriangle \operatorname{Perf} X.Comment: 17 pages, Comments welcome

Prior to serving as Chief of Police, Rick, who is a graduate of California State University- Sacramento and the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School, was appointed as the Deputy Chief of the Offices of Operations, Investigations, Technical Services, and Homeland Security and Emergency Services. Rick is a co-author of the book titled Cop Talk: Essential Communicating Skills for Community Policing and is nationally recognized for his instruction in communication skills on this topic.Ms. MATSUI. Mr. Speaker, I rise today in honor of Chief Rick Braziel as he retires from the Sacramento Police Department, an organization he served admirably over three decades. As the Chief of Police since 2008 and a member of the department since 1979, Rick has been pivotal in upholding and carrying out the mission of the Sacramento Police Department and his leadership will be missed. I ask all my colleagues to join me in honoring one of Sacramento’s finest public servants.Approved for public release; distribution is unlimited

Anti-TNF therapy in the management of ocular attacks in an elderly patient with long-standing Behçet's disease

Hisako Karube, Koju Kamoi, Kyoko Ohno-Matsui Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science, Graduate School of Medical and Dental Sciences, Tokyo Medical and Dental University, Tokyo, Japan Background: Ocular symptoms in Behçet’s disease (BD) begin mostly before 30 years of age according to international surveys, and BD activity may decrease with age. Information regarding the treatment of ocular symptoms in elderly BD patients is thus scant. Anti-TNFα antibody has recently demonstrated strong effects against recurrent uveitis in BD, but the efficacy and safety of anti-TNFα therapy in elderly patients remain unclear. We report herein the case of an elderly patient with long-standing uveitis due to BD who was successfully treated with two types of anti-TNF therapy. Case: An 81-year-old Japanese man presented with a 33-year history of ocular inflammation due to BD. As immunosuppressive agents, such as cyclosporine A, were difficult to use because he had undergone removal of the left kidney due to cancer, he was treated with colchicine. However, attacks of ocular inflammation persisted around nine times a year. After colchicine had been changed to infliximab, ocular inflammation was fairly well controlled, but ocular attacks still occurred once or twice a year. As soon as intestinal hemorrhage related to BD occurred, infliximab was switched to adalimumab. After this switch, ocular attacks resolved and visual acuity was maintained at 1.0. Intestinal lesions were also well controlled, and no side effects were seen. Conclusion: This represents the first report of the application of two types of anti-TNFα therapy for ocular attacks in an elderly BD patient. In addition to infliximab, adalimumab appears to offer an alternative therapy for refractory, long-standing BD-related uveitis in elderly patients.
