Using Triple-Space Computing for communication and coordination in Semantic Grid
Triple Space Computing is a new communication and coordination paradigm for Semantic Web Services. It has been achieved by extending Tuple Space Computing to support RDF as Triple Space Computing and then use it for communication in Semantic Web Services. Similarly we want to use the emerging Triple Space Computing to enhance the communication of computation and information services of the Semantic Grid. This paper briefly describes how Triple Space Computing can be used for Semantic Web technologies, Web Services, Semantic Web Services and eventually the Semantic Grid
Searching for Peace in Chechnya – Swiss Initiatives and Experiences : Swisspeace Annual Conference 2005
The Chechen conflict has slowly disappeared from the international media and thus from public
awareness. The conflict itself, however, continues despite a recent ease in tensions. Together with
the fact that the reconstruction of the heavily destroyed republic poses an immense challenge, the
presence of international actors remains essential. In spite of serious obstacles, numerous
international actors – among them several Swiss representatives – have been and are continuing to
work for a better future. What is the main emphasis of their work? What can they contribute to a
peaceful future? What are the main challenges? And what is the locals’ perception of Swiss
initiatives? At swisspeace’s 2005 annual conference a group of international experts offered their
thoughts on these questions. This Conference Paper features their revised and updated
contributions.
Welchen Beitrag
können sie an eine friedliche Zukunft leisten? Welches sind die grössten Herausforderungen in ihrer
Arbeit? Und was denken lokale Akteure vom Schweizer Engagement? Diesen Fragen widmeten sich
internationale Expertinnen und Experten an der Jahreskonferenz 2005 von swisspeace. Im
vorliegenden Conference Paper werden die nach der Konferenz überarbeiteten und aktualisierten

Enabling the European patient summary through triplespaces
One of the main items on the eHealth agenda of the European Community is the design and promotion of electronic patient summaries as an instrument to guarantee the continuity of healthcare across national boundaries and to facilitate the pervasive delivery of healthcare, thus ensuring the right to patient mobility and increasing the productivity and quality of health service delivery. From a technical point of view, this objective requires middleware technology which is able to cope with the stringent interoperability, multi-lingualism, distribution, and privacy requirements arising in eHealth settings. This paper presents triplespace computing, a coordination middleware for the Semantic Web,and demonstrates its relevance to the realization of the European Patient Summary, an infrastructure for sharing and coordinating access to patient summaries at the European level
Ontology-Driven Management of Space Middleware
Abstract. Recent work in the field of middleware technology proposes semanticsaware tuplespaces as a tool for coping with the scalability, heterogeneity and dynamism issues arising in distributed environments such as the (Semantic) Web. The fact that (Semantic) Web services communicate by synchronous message exchanges initiated triplespace computing. The aim was to bring the Web’s “persistently publish and read ” paradigm to service computing. Based on experiences with ontologies in traditional middleware we argue that ontology-driven management will be a major asset of semantic tuplespaces compared to traditional ones. In this research we look at ontology-based metadata to enhance semantic space infrastructures to become reflective middleware. 1

Ontology-Driven Management of Semantic Spaces
Abstract. Recent work in the field of middleware technology proposes semantic spaces as a tool for coping with the scalability, heterogeneity and dynamism issues of large scale distributed environments. Reflective middleware moreover offers answers to the needs for adaptivity and self-determination of systems. Based on experiences with traditional middleware we argue that ontology-driven management is a major advancement for semantic spaces and provides the fundamental means for reflection. In this research we look at ontology-based metadata to turn semantic spaces into reflective middleware. 1
Ontology-Based Context Modeling
Abstract. Ontologies are a widely accepted tool for the modeling of context information. We view the identification of the benefits and challenges of ontologybased models to be an important next step to further improve the usability of ontologies in context-aware applications. We outline a set of criteria with respect to ontology engineering and context modeling and discuss some recent achievements in the area of ontology-based context modeling in order to determine the important next steps necessary to fully exploit ontologies in pervasive computing.
