Animals and philosophers: Preface to my critics
The author is here seeking to expose his book Philosophical Animal zoographical persuasion to philosophy, to his own remorseless analysis - and that way defend the book from potential criticism by the others. On the other hand, the author believes that this will open up the space for discussion about the book and themes that book provokes. This discussion is not going to be mere neatly registered response and/or appropriate praise but a contribution inspired by the book, resonating back to it
"Author Meets Critics: Predrag Cicovacki, Author of Gandhi's Footprints, Meets Critics Sanjay Lal and Carlo Filice"
Two critics respond to Predrag Cicovacki’s book, Gandi’s Footprints. Cicovacki opens the discussion by presenting his motivations for exploring a paradox, that Gandhi’s work is widely revered but not widely emulated. Cicovacki explores a resolution to the paradox by suggesting how Gandhi’s promising visions may be followed without being imitated, especially Gandhi’s insight that we must seek spiritual grounding for life in a materialistic world. Critic Sanjay Lal affirms Cicovacki’s insight but suggests that precisely because Gandhi’s aspirations for spiritual life were profoundly transformative we should take care not to dilute them into our conventional wisdoms. Critic Carlo Filice asks how Gandhi’s commitment to unified reality could be more clearly articulated once a distinction is drawn between spirit and matter, also how Gandhi’s nonviolence could manage to embrace important exceptions. In reply to critics, Cicovacki proposes an approach to Gandhi informed by the insights of Tagore

Kogeneracija je postrojenje u kojem se iz jednog energenta istovremeno proizvodi
električna i toplinska energija. Prednost kogeneracije u odnosu na konvencionalne elektrane
ili postrojenja u kojima se proizvodi samo električna energija ili samo toplinska energija je u
učinkovitosti samog postrojenja, koja se odnosi na smanjenje potrošnje primarnog goriva,
gubitaka u mreži i emisije stakleničkih plinova. Velika prednost kogeneracije je njezina velika
mogućnost primjene i kombinacije s već postojećim tehnologijama primijenjenim u različitim
sustavima u industriji, poljoprivredi te poslovnom i stambenom sektoru.
U ovom radu je opisana kogeneracija općenito, njena primjena, podjela i
karakteristike. Također su opisana razna kogeneracijska postrojenja na brodu, njihov princip
rada te prednosti i nedostaci pojedinih procesa. Obrađen je i postupak analize kogeneracijskih
sustava te njihova usporedba. Na samom kraju je naveden i kratak osvrt na trigeneraciju.Combined heat and power (CHP) is a facility which uses one energy source to produce
both electricity and thermal energy at the same time. CHP has an advantage when compared
to conventional power plants which produce only electricity or thermal energy because it is
much more efficient – it minimizes the usage of its primary energy source, grid losses and
greenhouse gas emissions. CHP’s big advantage lies in its applicability: it is highly
compatible with existing technologies already in use in different power systems across the
industry, agriculture, business and residential sector.
This paper describes the cogeneration in general, its application, classification and
characteristics. It also describes various cogeneration plants on board, their principle and the
advantages and disadvantages of individual processes. This paper contains analysis of
cogeneration systems and their comparison. At the very least is given a brief overview of the
trigeneration

Brodski strojni kompleks složen je niz sustava i podsustava koji zahtijeva konstantan nadzor. Međutim za ostvarivanje opisanog, potrebno je primijeniti odgovarajuće mjerene instrumente i uređaje te određeni oblik logike prilikom njihovog pozicioniranja unutar nadziranog sustava. Logika pozicioniranja ponajprije je definirana tehničkim pravilima klasifikacijskih društava za granju bodova, dok u manjoj mjeri iskustvom. Opisani pristup u konačnici rezultira jednostavnijom dijagnostikom te smanjenim brojem zastoja, pritom osiguravajući učinkovit i siguran način rada.Ships propulsion complex is a complex series of systems and subsystems that requires constant monitoring. However, to achieve the described, it is necessary to apply appropriate measuring instruments and devices along with a certain form of positioning logic. The logic behind positioning is primarily defined by the technical rules of classification societies, while to a lesser extent by experience. The described approach ultimately results in simpler diagnostics and a reduced number of downtimes, while ensuring efficiency and safety

Ovim radom je obrađena primjena rashladnih sustava na putničkim brodovima uz detaljan primjer sustava na brodu za kružna putovanja. Naglasak rada je na apsorpcijskom rashladniku. U radu je objašnjena njegova uloga u rashladnim sustavima i njegov princip rada. Opisan je potencijal apsorpcijskog rashladnika u budućoj primjeni na putničkim brodovima.For the comfort of travel, cooling systems are used on passenger ships.
