This county scrip was issued in Kerrville by Kerr County. Decorative designs border the left and right edges of the note. The phrase ''KERR COUNTY WARRANT.'' is printed along the top edge. The abbreviation ''No.'' appears towards the upper-left corner; the number ''255'' is handwritten adjacent to it. The city and date, Kerrville, Nov., 1862., are printed towards the upper-right corner. The phrase ''ONE DOLLAR,'' is printed across the face of the note. It is signed on the recto by John P. Stroope, Country Clerk, and James M. Starkey, Chief Justice. Stroope, a native of Arkansas, is listed in the 1880 Census as a farmer.
