Contexts of Co-Constructed Discourse
The edited volume, Contexts of Co-constructed Discourse: Interaction Pragmatics, and Second Language Applications, edited by Czerwionka, Showstack, and Liskin (2022), is presented as a tribute to Dr. Dale April Koike and her contributions to applied linguistics, co-constructed discourse, pragmatics, and language pedagogy. Building upon that body of work, this collection showcases new developments in co-construction in discourse research. Each contributing author endeavors to add a more nuanced understanding of emergent context in interactions through chapters that explore some of the dynamics between action and language in interaction and delve into identities, social roles and actions, pragmatic meaning-making, frames, and context. The collection both offers thanks to Dr. Koike for her contributions to these areas of study and adds to the existing body of research on how speakers jointly negotiate meanings, contexts, identities, and social positions in interaction

Q&A: CiCi Kelley on Choreographing the Roots of Jazz in Bolden, the Motion Picture
I remember being a dancer in the process of bringing the motion picture Bolden to life, and the feeling was quite raw. Twelve hours a day were spent glued to my partner connected on a soul level, connected to my ancestors and the incessant downbeat of Wynton Marsalis score. When the dancers were called to set, we would often joke that it was time to throw that ass in a circle, referring to a popular song at the time that perfectly described the movement. Bodies, connected at the hip, gyrated in a circular motion. Men lifted women high into the air while others dipped and scrubbed the floor with sensual abandon. Our costumes depicted a working-class lot in some cases, dingy from a hard day's work. The sweat and heat of the room meshed with the music to create an authentic vibe that will captivate viewers in the very real experience that is the birth of jazz
The Inclusion Of Women\u27s History In The Secondary Social Studies Classroom
The author examined the motivation for why, and methods of how, some secondary social studies teachers incorporate women’s voices into the traditional history framework. A multi-layered qualitative methodology was employed for this study using survey, case study, and phenomenological approaches, including interviews and classroom observations of participants. The researcher discovered the percentage of teachers who claim to incorporate women’s history/perspectives into their lessons; how teachers incorporate women’s history/perspectives into their lessons; and, the factors that contribute to teachers including women’s history/perspectives into their classes
