Design and analysis of high performance low noise oscillators and phase lock loops
The design and implementation of high purity, high speed and power efficient clock generation Integrated Circuits continue to be one the greatest challenges facing IC designers today. In order to address this challenge, this thesis considers the modeling and design of two fundamental clock generation circuits – the VCO and PLL.An improved ring oscillator topology is proposed which has the advantage of an ultra wide tuning range. A novel noise aware ring oscillator model is also proposed which links the noise performance of the oscillator to its transistor dimensions giving insight to the design procedure. The use of this VCO model in a noise-aware PLL model allows the trade-off between noise performance and the loop bandwidth to be quantified accurately. From further analysis of the proposed PLL model, a novel PLL structure has been designed which is extremely successful at reference spur suppression.Simulation results based on the proposed model and foundry BSIM3v3 models are provided for all the VCO and PLL designs. Assessment of Self-Archiving in Institutional Repositories: Depositorship and Full-Text Availability
This research evaluates the success of open access self-archiving in several well-known institutional repositories. Two assessment factors have been applied to examine the current practice of self-archiving: depositorship and the availability of full text. This research discovers that the rate of author self-archiving is low and that the majority of documents have been deposited by a librarian or administrative staff. Similarly, the rate of full-text availability is relatively low, except for Australian repositories. By identifying different practices of self-archiving, repository managers can create new strategies for the operation of their repositories and the development of archiving policies

[M(OOCC6H4PO3H)(H2O)] (M(II) = Mn, Co, Ni): layered metal phosphonates showing variable magnetic behavior
Three novel isomorphous transition metal phosphonate compounds with formula [M(OOCC6H4PO3H)(H2O)] [M(II) = Mn(1), Co(2), Ni(3)] were prepared through hydrothermal reaction of 2-carboxyphenylphosphonic acid and metal salts. Within the structure, the {M2O2} dimers made up of edge-sharing{MO6} octahedra are connected by carboxylate and/orphosphonate groups, leading to a 2-D layer. The phenyl groups fill in the inter-layer spaces. Magnetic measurements reveal that dominant antiferromagnetic interactions are observed in compounds 1 and 2, while for compound 3, the dominant ferromagnetic interaction leads to a spontaneous ferromagnetic long range ordering below T-c = 4.0 K

A Comparative Study of Five Professional Gardeners in Jiangnan of Mid-late period of Ming Dynasty.
In the Mid-late period of Ming dynasties, five professional gardeners emerged in the Jiangnan area, including Zhang Nanyang, Zhou Bingzhong, Zhou Tingce, Ji Cheng and Zhang Lian. The five gardeners were basically divided into four generations by age, and there were temporal and spatial intersections between their life experiences and gardening activities. This paper conducts a comparative study of the five people’s own life experiences, social relations, and the dissemination of their works, in an attempt to discover the links between them and thus understand the similarities and differences in their respective gardening concepts
