Then (13:02) we welcome dear friend of the pod, Kaushik Sunder Rajan from the University of Chicago, to the conversation to talk about his fascinating new book, Pharmocracy (Duke UP, 2017), which explores the global hegemony of the pharmaceutical industry. We talk about what happens to democracy when health gets appropriated by capital, the logic of capital itself and questions of historical determinism, how much the behavior of the pharmaceutical industry can be explained by its capture by finance capital, what the Shkreli-esque figure of “Evil Pharma” obscures, and how pharma has come to control a variety of states across the world. We then move on to the sacralization of health, pharmapublics in the global South vs the global North, clinical trials, the opioid crisis, drugs as commodities and whether there’s a clean line between therapy and addiction. Kaushik explains what concerns him about corporate social responsibility initiatives and entities like the Clinton Foundation as modes of health governance and he shares his discoveries about Big Pharma’s underwriting by the US government, which leads us in turn to compare the American empire’s pill politics with its petro politics. In closing we talk about current progressive and rightwing politics in the US and India, Kaushik places his bet on how long Trump will remain in office, and we learn about what’s good and not so good about cricket today.     the study attempts to find an association amongst the 3 variables namely the Day-ahead Market Clearing price of electricity, Non-Solar Renewable Energy Certificate cleared price, and the Coal price in India. The three variables considered in the study are as follows: 1. Day-ahead Market Clearing price of electricity denoted as (PX)- is measured in INR/MWh and the figures considered are the monthly average of the daily Day-ahead Market Clearing price of electricity. The daily market-clearing price of electricity at the Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) represents the average of all the 96 time-block9 market-clearing prices of electricity. 2. Non-Solar Renewable Energy Certificate cleared price (INR/REC) denoted as (RECNSLR)- is measured as the cleared price of Non-solar REC certificates for the traded month at IEX. 3. Coal price (COAL): The coal price is measured in Indian Rupee per metric tonne. The data is taken from the website: indexmundi.com Note: the data of Non-Solar REC cleared price was not available during the period May-June 2017 due to suspension of REC trading by the CERC in line with the stay order from the Supreme Court of India.     In recent years, there has been a growing attention towards the development of artificial agents that can naturally communicate and interact with humans. The focus has primarily been on creating systems that have the ability to unify advanced learning algorithms along with various natural forms of human interaction (like providing advice, guidance, motivation, punishment, etc). However, despite the progress made, interactive systems are still directed towards researchers and scientists and consequently the everyday human is unable to exploit the potential of these systems. Another undesirable component is that in most cases, the interacting human is required to communicate with the artificial agent a large number of times, making the human often fatigued. In order to improve these systems, this thesis extends prior work and introduces novel approaches via Human-assisted Efficient Learning Protocols (HELP). Three case studies are presented that detail distinct aspects of HELP - a) representation of the task to be learned and its associated constraints, b) the efficiency of the learning algorithm used by the artificial agent and c) the unexplored “natural” modes of human interaction. The case studies will show how an artificial agent is able to efficiently learn and perform complex tasks using only a limited number of interactions with a human. Each of these studies involves human subjects interacting with a real robot and/or simulated agent to learn a particular task.     summary:Sharma-Kaushik partitions have been used to define distances between vectors with nn-coordinates. In this paper, “difference matrices” for the partitioning classes have been introduced and investigated. It has been shown that the difference matrices are circulant and that the entries of a product of matrices is an extended intersection number of a distance scheme. The sum of the entries of each row or columns of the product matrix has been obtained. The algebra of matrices generated by the difference matrices of the classes of an SK-partition have another natural basis. The relationship between these two bases has been given
