“It gave me a much more personal connection”: Student generated podcasting and assessment in teacher education
This paper reports on a qualitative case study of an online initial teacher education class in New Zealand, exploring the potential of student-generated podcasts as a form of interactive formative assessment. Findings from interviews with teaching staff indicate that podcasting was useful for supporting multimodal learning valuing student voice and reflections. Podcasting enhanced the affective and relational connections in the online class, and empowered students to develop technical skills and confidence relevant in their teaching careers. As such, this study positions educators as future makers and as leaders in a climate of change. We suggest implications for student-generated podcasts in similar contexts

Tourism development and social carrying capacity of zimbabwe’s victoria falls rural peripheries
Tourism development induces changes on the social character of a destination. Such changes affect the sustainable development of the destinationand the relationship between hostsnd tourists. The purpose of this study was to explore how tourism development is affecting the social carrying capacity of Zimbabwe’s Victoria Falls Rural Peripheries. The study is premised on the Social Exchange Theory. Qualitative data was collected from twenty nine villagers and forty two tourists using a questionnaire in 2013. The results showed that 80% (n=30) of the villagers are of the opinion that the social carrying capacity of the area has been surpassed whilst 90% (n=42) tourists still believe that there is more room for tourism development in this area. It was therefore concluded that there is a mismatch between the perceptions of the local villagers and tourists regarding the social carrying capacity of Victoria Falls rural peripheries, indicative of the long standing debate around whensustainable development is sustainable and in whose opinion. As a policy recommendation, it is high time the relevant authorities involve local people in tourism development issues
thereby helping in creating a moment of truth that is socially sustainable for both tourists and host communities

Zimbabwe policy environment and domestic tourism performance
The study explored the effects of Zimbabwe‟s policy environment on domestic tourism performance. Focus was placed on three policies that are land reform, indigenisation policy and the economic policy. A qualitative methodological approach was employed. Interviews were conducted with purposefully selected respondents from Zimbabwe Tourism Authority, Zimbabwe Council of Tourism and two hotels conveniently selected. Data collected was thematically analysed. The major themes that emerged from the study were; policy has affected people‟s wellbeing, employment status and national income. It was concluded that despite the many positives derived from these policies, they have greatly negatively affected the performance of domestic tourism in Zimbabwe. It is thereforerecommended that there be a sychronised approach when developing national policies such that they do not promote growth in
area whilst destroying other sectors of the economy
