First person – Ahmed Elbediwy
First Person is a series of interviews with the first authors of a selection of papers published in Journal of Cell Science, helping early-career researchers promote themselves alongside their papers. Ahmed Elbediwy is the first author on ‘Enigma proteins regulate YAP mechanotransduction’, published in Journal of Cell Science. Ahmed is a postdoctoral fellow in the lab of Barry Thompson at The Francis Crick Institute, London, UK, investigating the cytoskeleton, RhoGTPases and the regulation of YAP/TAZ oncoproteins

India in the face of global jihad: Time to re-evaluate?
IS INDIA now on the map of global jihad? The arrests of two Indian Muslims, Sabeel Ahmed and Kafeel Ahmed, from the United Kingdom in connection with the failed London and Glasgow bombings on 29-30 June 2007, seem to suggest this. Both Indians are young, well educated established professionals, who represent India’s Muslim middle class. Significantly they belong to the state of Karnataka, where literacy among Muslims is higher than other parts of the country, and particularly from Bangalore, the cosmopolitan Information Technology (IT) hub of India. Kafeel Ahmed keenly followed events in Afghanistan and Palestine. Evidence gathered from his house includes speeches delivered by Osama Bin Laden, graphic videos of tortured Chechen terrorists and online manuals on how to prepare bombs
Toxicity and Avoidance Behaviour of Coccinella septempunctata (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) Against Deltamethrin
In the present study we conducted residual bioassay tests to evaluate the susceptibility of Coccinella septempunctata to the recommended field dose of deltamethrin (i.e., 50mL of insecticide dissolved in 200mL). We also studied the insecticide avoidance behaviour of C. septempunctata. Studied population was found susceptible to the recommended dose of deltamethrin as we observed 100% mortality after 24 hours of insecticide exposure. Results of Fisher exact test revealed a significant difference in mortality at different time intervals. C. septempunctata learned to avoid deltamethrin treated leaf surface after their repeated exposure to the same insecticide

Simultaneous Twin Kernel Learning Using Polynomial Transformations for Structured Prediction
Many learning problems in computer vision can be posed as structured prediction problems, where the input and output instances are structured objects such as trees, graphs or strings rather than, single labels {+1, −1} or scalars. Kernel methods such as Structured Support Vector Machines , Twin Gaussian Processes (TGP), Structured Gaussian Processes, and vector-valued Reproducing Kernel Hilbert Spaces (RKHS), offer powerful ways to perform learning and inference over these domains. Positive definite kernel functions allow us to quantitatively capture similarity between a pair of instances over these arbitrary domains. A poor choice of the kernel function, which decides the RKHS feature space, often results in poor performance. Automatic kernel selection methods have been developed, but have focused only on kernels on the input domain (i.e.’one-way’). In this work, we propose a novel and efficient algorithm for learning kernel functions simultaneously, on both input and output domains. We introduce the idea of learning polynomial kernel transformations, and call this method Simultaneous Twin Kernel Learning (STKL). STKL can learn arbitrary, but continuous kernel functions, including ’one-way’ kernel learning as a special case. We formulate this problem for learning covariances kernels of Twin Gaussian Processes. Our experimental evaluation using learned kernels on synthetic and several real-world datasets demonstrate consistent improvement in performance of TGP’s.Peer reviewe
The impact of multichannel engagement tools on the quality of care provided by a health care professional
Today’s in the global era of digital word, things are changing and evolving around the health care professional with a patient centricity and a integrated approach for a better and healthier society, the access for accurate information for the patients is crucial to deliver the best solution for the society at large. Tools to engage the health care professionals to make them confident and improve the current practices are always on the priority, through several multi channel engagement tools that allow them to enhance the capability of their diagnostic and treatment pattern for a particular disease area while keeping the patient centricity view in the back of mind and to provide best possible solution for their customers.
the purpose of the study is to analyze the impact of multi channel engagement tools on the quality of care provided by a health care professional actively serving the best practice for the community, quality information about the relevant therapy area for health care professional through email, website and conducting scientific webinar.
200 health care professionals from the hospital, private clinics were the part of this study and the given responses were analyzed and treated through statistical parameter for drawing the conclusion. the results showed that the information through the email, website marketing and scientific sessions may contribute the quality practice of health care professionals.
