Simpson Ltd collaborated as they had a common need to develop a product for use on site in orchards. These bins would become a major product of S&K Ltd, which was the plywood division of S.M. Simpson Ltd and opened in 1956. Each of these bins held the equivalent of 25 bushels and measured 48” x 43” x 24. S.M. Simpson registered the patent in1960, but these bins were commonly known as “Gorman bins.
