Automatic extraction of geographic context from textual data
No full textThe amount of information on the internet grows exponentially. It isnot enough anymore just to have a general access to this huge amount of data,instead it is becoming a necessity to be able to use different kinds ofautomatic filters to retrieve just the information you actually want. Onesolution for the information filtering and retrieval is context analysis inwhich one of the contexts of interest is the geographic context. This paperstudies the problem and methodology of geoparsing – recognition of geographicnames in unstructured textual content for the aim of extracting geographiccontext. A prototype implementation of a geoparsing system, capable ofautomatically analyzing unstructured text, recognizing geographic informationand marking geographic names, is developed. Empirical evaluation of the systemusing articles from real-world news showed that the average quality of itsgeographic name recognition varies around 75-100%. Possible applications of thedeveloped prototype include automated grouping of any texts by their geographiccontexts (e.g., in news portals) and location-based search. No full textKvalifikācijas darba ietvaros tika apskatīta un aprakstīta SAP Hybris Commerce platformā izstrādātā lietotne, kas ir saistīta ar produkta uzglabāšanas un piedāvājuma ķēdes atspoguļojumu. Izmantojot doto lietotni, lietotājs var sekot produkta piegādes procesam sākot no noliktavas atrašanās vietas līdz veikalam kā arī līdz pašam pasūtītājam. Piegādes punkti un ķēdes tiek atspoguļotas uz pasaules kartes vektorgrafikas formātā, izmantojot klienta, noliktavas un veikala atrašanas vietas koordinātas. Dotā lietotne ir ļoti ērta, jo klientam ir iespēja redzēt un izvēlēties sev vispiemērotāko piegādēs iespēju no visām piedāvātām iespējām. Lietotne tika izstrādāta izmantojot SAP Hybris Commerce platformu, kas ir viena no pieprasītākajām e-komercijas realizācijas platformām. Tā tika realizēta kā daļa no internetveikala, kas dod iespēju integrēt to jebkuros e-komercijas projektos. Izstrādes laikā tika izmantotas HTML, LESS un JavaScript programmēšanas valodas.Within the framework of the qualification paper, the author reviewed and described the application developed by the SAP Hybris Commerce platform, related to the presentation of the product storage and supply chain. By using the given application, the user can track the delivery process of the product from the warehouse to the store as well as to the customer. Supply points and chains are depicted on the world map in vector graphic format, by using the coordinates of the customer, warehouse and store’s location. This application is very convenient because the customer has the opportunity to see and choose the most suitable delivery option from the all given choices. The application was developed on the SAP Hybris Commerce platform, which is one of the most sought after e-commerce platforms. It was implemented as part of an online store, which gives an opportunity to integrate it into any e-commerce project. Automated Geocoding of Textual Data
No full textNowadays the internet is overcrowded with huge amount of textual data – various news portals, blogs, forums, social networks,
encyclopedias, books etc. New methods are required for information structuring and searching, linking additional information to context
thus making it easier to find and perceive the information, as well as making it more useful.
One of the contexts that can help to solve this problem is geographical context. This work is devoted to the research of automated textual
data geocoding (or geoparsing) matter and solutions thereof. Based on the scientific research methodology a system prototype is developed
that is capable of analyzing texts in automated mode, recognizing geographic information in those and marking geographical names.
The research results and the system prototype can be used as an automated approach to a text grouping by its geographic context (for
example, in news portals); as well as it can be used for aggregation purposes. Such system can automatically link the geographic
information (coordinates, addresses, zip codes, cities, states, even geocoded images and videos, etc.) to appropriate words in any text
containing geographical names. All this can allow a user both getting relevant additional geographical information about the text, as well as,
performing searches in the text using the abovementioned geographical data
