Artimpaza brevilineata Tian & Chen, 2012 in Tian, Chen & Li, 2012: 43, figs. 1–9. (Figs. 28a, b) Type locality: China, Yunnan, Pu’er City, Yutang. Gender: female. Date collected: 2011.V.25 (2010.V.25, in the original description, is incorrect). Collector: Li-Chao TIAN & Gui-Qiang HUANG. Paratypes: 1 female, China, Yunnan, Lincang City, 1980.VI.1, Fen LIU leg. Remarks: In the original description, the type locality is “ Yunnan, Jinghong” while it is “ Yunnan, Yutang” according to the label. “Yutang” is actually in Pu’er, not Jinghong. The first author described the type locality by mistake. In the original description, the collector was only listed as Li-Chao TIAN, which was a mistake.Published as part of Li, Zhu & Chen, Li, 2020, Primary types of longhorned beetles (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae, Vesperidae and Disteniidae) of Southwest University (SWU), pp. 25-46 in Zootaxa 4718 (1) on page 33, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.4718.1.2, http://zenodo.org/record/360220

Multiscale modeling of rapid granular flow with a hybrid discrete-continuum method

    No full text
Both discrete and continuum models have been widely used to study rapid granular flow, discrete model is accurate but computationally expensive, whereas continuum model is computationally efficient but its accuracy is doubtful in many situations. Here we propose a hybrid discrete-continuum method to profit from the merits but discard the drawbacks of both discrete and continuum models. Continuum model is used in the regions where it is valid and discrete model is used in the regions where continuum description fails, they are coupled via dynamical exchange of parameters in the overlap regions. Simulation of granular channel flow demonstrates that the proposed hybrid discrete-continuum method is nearly as accurate as discrete model, with much less computational cost. (C) 2016 Elsevier B.V. Facile fabrication of nanoparticles confined in graphene films and their electrochemical properties

    No full text
The development of novel nanostructured electrode materials with high performance and based on abundant elements is a key element in the societal pursuit of sustainable energy. Graphene-based structures with rich macroporosity and high conductive networks are promising components to develop novel electrode materials. Herein, we described a facile procedure to confine Ni(OH)2 particles in a graphene film, leading to a new sandwich-like hybrid structure. The hybrid film offers simultaneously ordered ion diffusion channels and high electrical conductivity, which facilitate the improvement of both electrode kinetics and electrochemical stability, thus leading to high capacitance, fast rate capability, and stable cycle life as supercapacitor materials. This work provides a facile pathway for optimized structures for electrode materials, and represents a benefit for the global issues of energy shortage and environmental pollution.Sheng Chen, Junwu Zhu, Ling Qiu, Dan Li, and Xin Wan

Performance evaluation and comparison of a serial–parallel hybrid multichamber piezoelectric pump

    No full text
To improve the output capability of piezoelectric pumps, researchers have made an attempt to combine multiple single-chamber pumps either in series or in parallel. In this article, a serial–parallel hybrid multichamber piezoelectric pump is presented. The novel serial–parallel hybrid multichamber piezoelectric pump structure is characterized by the simultaneous occurrence of serial/parallel forms through a combination of synchronous and asynchronous modes of piezoelectric actuators. Moreover, the pump can be operated in multiple working modes to obtain the desired chamber volume and number through different serial–parallel configurations. The performance characteristics of the pump with various serial–parallel hybrid combinations were experimentally investigated and evaluated using a quintuple-chamber pump at 90 V with a frequency range of 60–400 Hz. Experimental results showed that the characteristics in terms of flow rate and backpressure changed significantly with different serial–parallel modes. Nevertheless, the backpressure presented very similar characteristics for the serial–parallel hybrid multichamber piezoelectric pump with the same number of in-phase parallel actuators. Meanwhile, the frequency-dependent flow rate characteristics were approximately similar for those pumps with symmetric serial–parallel combinations. It was found that the flow rate and backpressure mainly depended on the actuation frequency and serial–parallel modes, respectively. Compared with the quintuple-chamber pump with full out-of-phase actuators, the maximum powers of the serial–parallel hybrid multichamber piezoelectric pump with two, three, four, and five in-phase actuators were decreased by 21.1%, 51.4%, 77.7%, and 94.4%, respectively.</p
