    Assessment of Self-Archiving in Institutional Repositories: Depositorship and Full-Text Availability

    This research evaluates the success of open access self-archiving in several well-known institutional repositories. Two assessment factors have been applied to examine the current practice of self-archiving: depositorship and the availability of full text. This research discovers that the rate of author self-archiving is low and that the majority of documents have been deposited by a librarian or administrative staff. Similarly, the rate of full-text availability is relatively low, except for Australian repositories. By identifying different practices of self-archiving, repository managers can create new strategies for the operation of their repositories and the development of archiving policies

    Effect of micro-Si<sub>3</sub>N<sub>4</sub>–nano-Al<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub> co-filled particles on thermal conductivity, dielectric and mechanical properties of silicone rubber composites

    Silicone rubber (SR) is widely used on the distribution and transmission lines of power systems owing to its excellent insulating properties, extraordinary hydrophobicity and high tensile strength. However, the thermal conductivity of pure silicone rubber is very low which restricts its application for long time due to heat formation under electric field. This research focuses on the effect of micro- and nano-sized filler mixture on thermal conductivity, dielectric and mechanical properties of the SR composites. The micro-Si3N4 and nano-Al2O3 cofilled SR composites (MNCSR) with different volume ratios of Si3N4 and Al2O3 were fabricated by simple blending and subsequently hot-molding technique. With the addition of micro-Si3N4-nano-Al2O3 mixture at 30 vol. % (Si3N4/Al2O3=26/4), the composites showed high thermal conductivity of ~1.6 W m-1 k-1, low relative dielectric permittivity of ~5.3 and high breakdown strength of ~85 MV/m. Meanwhile, the introduction of micro-nano-sized particles resulted in improved elongation at beak and tensile strength. Besides, the MNCSR composites demonstrated good hydrophobicity with the static contact angle over 110°. The combination of these outstanding performances makes the MNCSR composites attractive in the field of insulating materials

    In the age of information explosion and technological advancement, issues of information storage, organization, access, and evaluation have become necessarily important in our societies. Addressing issues of information literacy and designing how they can be best integrated in students' learning process are of critical importance. Library professionals in the United States, particularly in the academia, have realized the importance of information literacy and have attempted in various ways to address these issues. The ultimate goal is to make information literacy an integral part of the academic curriculum, thus helping students to succeed not only during their years in college but also for their lifelong career choices. This article will look at ways of how information literacy can best be incorporated into students' academic experience, and how this process can make students' learning meaningful and successful.     Microstructure and electrical properties in three-component (Al2O3–TiO2)/polyimide nanocomposite films

    Polyimide (PI)-matrix composite films containing inorganic nanoparticles (nano-Al2O3 and nano-TiO2) have been fabricated. A proposed model is used to explain different structures of the (Al2O3–TiO2)/PI (ATP) films synthesized by employing in situ polymerization. Dependences of dielectric permittivities of the ATP films on frequency and temperature were studied. Results show the breakdown strength of the films decreases with prolonging the corona aging time. The incorporation of the nano-Al2O3 and nano-TiO2 particles significantly improves the corona resistance of the films. The corona aging also influences the infrared absorbance, the glass transition temperature (Tg), and loss factor (tand) of the ATP films
