Distributed human computation framework for linked data co-reference resolution

    No full text
Distributed Human Computation (DHC) is a technique used to solve computational problems by incorporating the collaborative effort of a large number of humans. It is also a solution to AI-complete problems such as natural language processing. The Semantic Web with its root in AI is envisioned to be a decentralised world-wide information space for sharing machine-readable data with minimal integration costs. There are many research problems in the Semantic Web that are considered as AI-complete problems. An example is co-reference resolution, which involves determining whether different URIs refer to the same entity. This is considered to be a significant hurdle to overcome in the realisation of large-scale Semantic Web applications. In this paper, we propose a framework for building a DHC system on top of the Linked Data Cloud to solve various computational problems. To demonstrate the concept, we are focusing on handling the co-reference resolution in the Semantic Web when integrating distributed datasets. The traditional way to solve this problem is to design machine-learning algorithms. However, they are often computationally expensive, error-prone and do not scale. We designed a DHC system named iamResearcher, which solves the scientific publication author identity co-reference problem when integrating distributed bibliographic datasets. In our system, we aggregated 6 million bibliographic data from various publication repositories. Users can sign up to the system to audit and align their own publications, thus solving the co-reference problem in a distributed manner. The aggregated results are published to the Linked Data Cloud

Quench characteristics of a Cu-Stabilized 2G HTS conductor

    No full text
The prospect of medium/high field superconducting magnets using 2G HTS tapes is approaching to reality with continued enhancement in the performance of these conductors. Direct measurements of 1d adiabatic quench initiation and propagation of a Cu-stabilized 2G conductor have been carried out with spatial-temporal recording of temperature and voltage following the deposition of various local heat pulses to the conductor at different temperatures between 40K and 64K carrying different transport currents. It was found that the stabilizer-free 2G tape maintains the unique characteristics previously measured in non-stabilized tape of increasing MPZ with transport current and higher quench energy at lower temperatures. The minimum quench energy, minimum propagation zone (MPZ) length are determined as a function of temperature and transport current. The change in MPZ size is investigated with measured temperature dependent E-J characteristics. The results add more detail to help understand the unique characteristics of increasing MPZ with transport current and lower temperatures

(F) Acuan : 26 (1979-2005) (G) Pembimbing Soetan Budhi Satria S. (H) Penulis June Santi

Performance of Broadband Multicarrier DS-CDMA using Space-Time Spreading-Assisted Transmit Diversity

    No full text
In this contribution multicarrier direct-sequence code-division multiple-access (MC DS-CDMA) using space–time spreading (STS)-assisted transmit diversity is investigated in the context of broadband communications over frequency-selective Rayleigh-fading channels. We consider the issue of parameter design for the sake of achieving high-efficiency communications in various dispersive environments. Furthermore, in contrast to conventional MC DS-CDMA schemes employing time (T)-domain spreading only, in this contribution we also investigate broadband MC DS-CDMA schemes employing both T-domain and frequency (F)-domain spreading, i.e., employing TF-domain spreading. The bit-error rate (BER) performance of STS-assisted broadband MC DS-CDMA is investigated for downlink transmissions associated with the correlation based single-user detector and the decorrelating multiuser detector. Our study demonstrated that when appropriately selecting the system parameters, broadband MC DS-CDMA using STS-assisted transmit diversity constitutes a promising downlink transmission scheme. This scheme is capable of supporting ubiquitous communications over diverse communication environments without BER performance degradation. Index Terms—Broadband system, code-division multiple access (CDMA), frequency-domain spreading, frequency-selective fading, multicarrier direct-sequence code-division multiple-access (MC-DS-CDMA), multicarrier CDMA, multicarrier modulation, multiuser detection, space–time spreading (STS), transmit diversity

Capacity and Error Performance of Reduced-Rank Transmitter Multiuser Preprocessing Based on Minimum Power Distortionless Response

    No full text
In this contribution we first derive a transmitter multiuser preprocessing (TMP) scheme for a general multiuser multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) system based on the minimum power distortionless response (MPDR) criterion, which minimizes the power in the context of a given downlink mobile terminal (MT) under the distortionless condition. This optimization problem results in a solution, which has the same form as the minimum mean-square error (MMSE) multiuser detection (MUD). Hence, we then extend the well-known rank-reduction techniques in MMSE-MUD to the MPDR-TMP in order to mitigate the possible implementation problems of the MPDRTMP. In our study three classes of rank-reduction algorithms are considered, which are derived, respectively, based on the eigen-analysis methods of principal components (PC) and crossspectral metrics (CSMs) as well as on the Taylor polynomial approximation (TPA) approach, which does not depend on the eigen-analysis. In this contribution both the capacity and error performance of a downlink space-division multiple-access (SDMA) system is investigated, when either the full-rank or reduced-rank MPDR-TMP is invoked. From our study and simulation results, it can be shown that the MPDR-TMP scheme is highly efficient for achieving the capacity and for suppressing the multiuser interference (MUI). The reduced-rank techniques can be employed by the MPDR-TMP, so as to reduce its implementation complexity while achieving the near full-rank performance of the full-rank MPDR-TMP

Notes on f(R) Cosmological Models with Yang-Mills and Scalar Fields

    No full text
The present study deals with the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker cosmological models of the Yang-Mills fields and  f(R) generalization of the Einstein cosmology. We investigate the corresponding relation between f(R) gravity and interacting Yang-Mills and scalar fields. A method of conformal transformation is proposed, which allows to transform a cosmological theory with nonlinearity induced by the Yang-Mills field into f(R) generalization of Einstein\u27s theory. A specific generalization of Einstein theory on the basis of exact solution for the Yang-Mills equation obtained by the author early is presented in explicit form. Moreover, for the f(R) theory we have found the explicit form of potential of induced scalar field, which can be identified with the effective potential of the f(R) cosmology

Soft Decoding Assisted Interference Cancellation in a Non-Binary LDPC Coded Fast Frequency Hopping Multiuser System Using Product Combining

    No full text
In this contribution, soft-input-soft-output (SISO) decoding aided successive interference cancellation (SIC) is considered in fast frequency hopping (FFH), M-ary frequency shift keying (MFSK) using product combining (PC), when operating in multiple access (MA) Nakagami-m channels. All users’ Mary source symbols are encoded using non-binary LDPC codes and the encoded symbols are transmitted using FFH-MFSK modulation. A sub-optimum soft metric is proposed which is based on self-normalization of the diversity combiner outputs. In the context of the proposed SIC scheme, the receiver exploits the soft information fed back by the LDPC decoder to the demodulator in order to cancel the interference imposed by the reliably detected symbols. Our simulation results show that the proposed scheme is capable of combatting the effects of multiuser interference and outperforms conventional iterative decoding by about 1dB
