John F.S.Jeanes, 82, retired farmer, likes to sun himself on a bench in Main Street Drouin. He was one of a family of 14, has six children, but can't remember how many other other descendents. 'There were Jeanes' all over the district' he says. Many, both males and females are serving in Australia's fighting forces. When photographer James Fitzpatrick explained what his picture was about, the old man just kept saying'I don't understand it Sir!'     "U429/99. John H. Lowin (51), who delivers Drouin's mail, has a letter for Mrs. Leslie Allison from her Air Force husband. The postman is World War I veteran, has a son prisoner of war in Malaya. He walks 40 miles a week for one delivery daily six days a week. 250 of the letters he takes round each week are from the war fronts.
