    The photostabilisation poly(butadiene)

    No full text
The phonphorescence from model alpha and beta unsaturated carbonyl compounds that have been proposed an representations of major photo-initiating impurities in the degradation of poly (butadiene) resin has been quenched at liquid nitrogen temperatures using energy transfer acceptors. The results have been analysed using several theoretical models and related to the use of ouch additives as possible photo-protectors of the said polymer at ambient temperatures. An apparatus has been designed to test such a relationship and the results have been compared to those obtained with a more conventional industrial apparatus. An attempt ban boon made to synthesise novel additives containing both absorbing and quenching moieties. </p
