    Dataset for "Fouling Resistant 2D Boron Nitride Nanosheet – PES Nanofiltration Membranes"

    A novel fouling-resistant nanofiltration mixed-matrix membrane was obtained by the incorporation of 2D boron nitride nanosheets (BNNS) in polyethersulfone (PES). The addition of just 0.05 wt% of BNNS into the PES matrix led to a 4-fold increase in pure water permeance with a 10% decrease in the rejection of the dye Rose Bengal; up to 95% rejection of humic acid and nearly 100% flux recovery over two cycles in cross-flow fouling tests without the need for chemical cleansing. This performance is attributed to the uniform distribution of the BNNS in the PES matrix, observed via Raman mapping, and the surface chemistry and structure of the BNNS, which hydrophilised the polymer matrix and reduced its surface roughness. The low amount of BNNS filler needed to render the mixed-matrix membrane fouling-resistant opens the way to its use in waste-water treatment applications where organic fouling remains a major challenge.     This article examines the influence of the European Union (EU) on the development and implementation of Romani integration policy in the Czech Republic from the perspective of those responsible for policy delivery. Based on analysis of key policy documents and research conducted in the Czech Republic, this article first examines how Romani integration became a more important issue during membership negotiations and then discusses how the criticism of the European Commission's Regular Reports was received by those responsible for implementing pro-Romani policies. Finally, the paper assesses how the status of full EU membership has impacted on integration policy. The article concludes that while funding for Romani integration projects has benefitted some groups, the overall impression of the EU is of a remote institution, quick to criticise and unwilling to practise what it preaches

Through the literature review and empirical test, this paper analyses the relationship between macro-economic policy and employment, and discusses the impact of real exchange rate and foreign trade on employment.     Microstructure and properties of a low-carbon steel processed by equal-channel angular pressing

    An ultrafine-grained low carbon steel (Fe–0.15 wt.% C–0.52 wt.% Mn) was fabricated by equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) at room temperature by pressing for up to a maximum of 10 passes using route C. There was an elongated substructure with a width of ~0.2–0.3 ?m after 10 passes of ECAP and the corresponding tensile strength was >1200 MPa. It is shown that subsequent annealing for 1 h at 773 K, which is below the recrystallization temperature of ferrite, leads to equiaxed grains with a size of ~0.3–0.4 ?m, an increase in the tensile elongation and a strength above 1000 MPa. Annealing for 1 h at 873 K, which is above the recrystallization temperature, gives a recrystallized equiaxed structure of fine grains with an average grain size of ~7 ?m, a strength of <500 MPa and stress–strain curves similar to those anticipated for a low-carbon steel

    A new rubber/UHMWPE alloy for water-lubricated sternbearings

    A new polymer alloy has been developed by blending powder of UHMWPE and graphite into nitrile rubber for marine stern tube bearings. It has good self-lubrication performance, which decreases the friction coefficient under low speed conditions and the critical speed at which bearing vibration and noise occur. Experimental investigations have been completed to examine its physical properties, integrated bearing friction as well as dynamic characteristics of the system in vibration and noise environments. The results show that mechanical and physical properties of new alloy meet the requirements of ship standard CB/ T769-2008. Stick-slip occurs at the critical speed of 0.27m/s. The friction coefficient is only about 50% of the restricted value in USA military specification MIL-DTL-17901C (SH) (2005) at or less than the speed of 0.18m/s, and reached a minimum value at the speed of 0.54m/s. The permissible maximum value of local projected pressure is 0.7MPa. The experimental results have confirmed the excellent low-speed performance and comprehensive function of the new Rubber/UHMWPE alloy which may be a good type of water-lubricated materials for marine stem tube bearings
