Materials to re-create results of Austin et al Zooplankton Migration paper
There are four data files: Two CTD (Conductivity-temperature-depth) profiles; one file containing backscatter data from an acoustic Doppler current profiler; and one containing temperature data from nine precision thermistors. There are also four MATLAB scripts which call this data to create the figures in the referenced manuscript. In a recent manuscript, zooplankton are shown to change their migratory behavior due to a change in stratification regime. This submission includes data and MATLAB scripts sufficient to recreate the four figures in the paper.National Science Foundation, OCE-PO 1829895Austin, Jay A. (2020). Radiatively Driven Convection, 2019 field campaign
The primary datasets included here are
1. temperature data from a large number of precision thermistors
2. current and backscatter data from an acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP).
3. Meteorological data from a surface meteorology buoy
4. Conductivity-temperature-depth (CTD) casts from three cruises associated with the deploymentFrom May-July 2019, a large array of equipment was deployed in western Lake Superior to study a process called Radiatively Driven Convection (RDC). This occurs when solar radiation is incident on fresh water whose temperature is below the temperature of maximum density, heating and densifying surface waters, driving convection. The goal of the project was to characterize the spatial and temporal scales of this convective process.National Science Foundation, OCE-PO 1829895Austin, Jay A. (2020).
