La etimología del vasco ezker “izquierdo” (reconstrucción interna)
The etymology of the Basque word ezker “left” proposed by the author of this study takes a very different line to the theories put forward by A. Tovar, M. Agud, Mahn and Van Eys, which are based on the initial component esku, *esku erdi, *esku oker. The present author identifies ertz oker, ‘twisted edge or end’, as the root form via the phonetic progression ertz oker > *ertzoker > *ertzker > ezker, meaning ‘twisted edge’.Egileak aurkezten duen ezker euskal hitzaren jatorria, A. Tovar - M. Agud, Mahn eta Van Eys hizkuntzalari ospetsuek proposatutako esku sustraitik aldentzen da. Bere ustez, ertz egon daiteke lehen sustraian.
