Animated digital twin of old Babina underground lignite mine
The file contains animated geovisualisation of underground workings of the old "Przyjaźń Narodów - Szyb Babina" lignite mine in western Poland (Lubuskie). The dataset used to prepare geovisualisation has been prepared through digital coding of historical mining maps depciting old underground mining levels in geographic information system. The animation presents extent of the known underground workings in relation to the present-day topography. The file should be used for educational, promotional and research purposes with the citation provided.</p
Digital terrain model of Sinkhole Babina1 map (Lubuskie, Western Poland)
Digital terrain model of the mapped sinkhole in the old "Przyjaźń Narodów - Szyb Babina" lignite mine in western Poland (Lubuskie). The localization of the object XY: 206452.78,417829.38 (EPSG 2180). The data were acquired by the Terrestrial Laser Scanning technique. The point cloud was classified and represents the 02 ground ISPRS.LAS class. The file should be used for educational, promotional, and research purposes with the citation provided.</p
Bathymetric map of "Afryka" reservoir 2023 with point cloud file (Lubuskie, Western Poland)
The file contains a bathymetric map of the "Afryka" reservoir of the old "Przyjaźń Narodów - Szyb Babina" lignite mine in western Poland (Lubuskie). The dataset presents the underwater digital terrain model acquired by the USV (unmanned survey vessel) bathymetric survey 2023 with a subsampled raw point cloud in .LAS file. The file should be used for educational, promotional, and research purposes with the citation provided.</p

MIN3D Dataset: MultI-seNsor 3D Mapping with an Unmanned Ground Vehicle
The research potential in the field of mobile mapping technologies is often hindered by several constraints. These include the need for costly hardware to collect data, limited access to target sites with specific environmental conditions or the collection of ground truth data for a quantitative evaluation of the developed solutions. To address these challenges, the research community has often prepared open datasets suitable for developments and testing. However, the availability of datasets that encompass truly demanding mixed indoor–outdoor and subterranean conditions, acquired with diverse but synchronized sensors, is currently limited. To alleviate this issue, we propose the MIN3D dataset (MultI-seNsor 3D mapping with an unmanned ground vehicle for mining applications) which includes data gathered using a wheeled mobile robot in two distinct locations: (i) textureless dark corridors and outside parts of a university campus and (ii) tunnels of an underground WW2 site in Walim (Poland). MIN3D comprises around 150 GB of raw data, including images captured by multiple co-calibrated monocular, stereo and thermal cameras, two LiDAR sensors and three inertial measurement units. Reliable ground truth (GT) point clouds were collected using a survey-grade terrestrial laser scanner. By openly sharing this dataset, we aim to support the efforts of the scientific community in developing robust methods for navigation and mapping in challenging underground conditions. In the paper, we describe the collected data and provide an initial accuracy assessment of some visual- and LiDAR-based simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) algorithms for selected sequences. Encountered problems, open research questions and areas that could benefit from utilizing our dataset are discussed. Data are available at https://3dom.fbk.eu/benchmarks

GIS-based spatial assessment of rock minerals mining - a case study of the Lower Silesia Region (SW Poland)
Mining of rock minerals, constitutes a strong stimulus for economic development and at the same time, can significantly and negatively affect the state of natural environment, roads and well-being of local communities. This paper presents methodology for studies of spatial impact of rock minerals mining in the Lower Silesia region (SW Poland). In the region majority of magmatic, metamorphic and other rock minerals occur in Poland and their intensive mining is an important sector of regional economy. The concept of mining density (mineral production per unit area) has been introduced and the changes of rock minerals mining in the period of the last 8 years (2006-2013) have been analysed and presented graphically with GIS-based methodology. Mining density increased from 2006 to 2011 and decreased from 2011 to 2013. Change in the spatial pattern of mining density between 2006 and 2013, despite comparable volume of rock minerals production, has been identified. In addition proximity of mines to human settlements, nature protection areas and railways (potential transport routes) has been analysed. Comprehensive and coherent information on rock minerals mining for the area of Lower Silesia provided in this study has been used in developing and implementing regional spatial development policy and attaining the balance between the economic needs, nature protection requirements and the well-being of its citizens
