Development of Hypervideo Platform Using Object Databases
Web users are seizing on interactive capabilities that software suppliers have developed so far, and are eagerly awaiting new interactive capabilities now being demonstrated. This paper focuses the development of rich information environment based on a customized platform enabling hyperlinks on objects within a digital video. With the help of such environment, the viewer is able to view multiple videos concurrently and browse them temporally as well as spatially with the help of an object database. Specifically, the platform enables to traverse through that object by linking, and such links have been explored and created. The link may connect to within a video, or multiple running videos and/or World Wide Web object. The issues such as open hypermedia link base (static, generic or dynamic) and object database versus multiple videos are also investigated

Human exposure to the neurotoxic methylmercury (MeHg) occurs primarily via the consumption of marine fish, but the processes underlying large-scale spatial variations in fish MeHg concentrations [MeHg], which influence human exposure, are not sufficiently understood. We used the Atlantic silverside (Menidia menidia), an extensively studied model species and important forage fish, to examine latitudinal patterns in total Hg [Hg] and [MeHg]. Telling interactive stories: A practice-based investigation into new media interactive storytelling
This thesis was submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy and awarded by Brunel University.Telling Interactive Stories is a practice-based thesis, which theoretically and practically probes the field of digital fictional interactive storytelling. The submission takes the form of the interactive cinema installation Crossed Lines
together with a written element of the thesis which interrogates historical, contextual, theoretical, technical and critical aspects of the field of interactive narrative using new media. Crossed Lines is an original fictional interactive AV piece, amalgamating multiform plots, a multi-screen viewing environment, an
interactive interface and an interactive story navigation form. The installation tells the stories of nine characters in a way that the viewer can constantly explore and switch between all nine forms, using a telephone keypad and handset as an interface, and can simultaneously observe all characters’ presence between the
nine remote locations. Several research methodologies are utilised to analyse and
evaluate the installation. Quantitative methodologies include the use of user tracking systems where the computational output of the installation provides measurements and timings of user choices and behaviours. Qualitative
methodologies include theoretical and visual analysis, and in depth analysis of user responses using interviews, questionnaires, video recordings and cuttingedge eye-tracking technologies
Pilot study protocol for a novel perioperative mind-body intervention for peripheral vascular interventions
Background: A novel mind-body intervention (MBI) targeting vascular surgery patients undergoing peripheral vascular interventions (PVIs) under procedural sedation and analgesia (PSA) was recently developed, but has yet to be clinically tested. An exploratory randomized controlled trial is planned to test the novel intervention in patients undergoing PVIs under PSA. Methods: Patients undergoing PVIs under PSA by vascular surgeons across four hospitals in Massachusetts and New Hampshire will be screened for enrollment. Exclusion criteria include urgent or emergent procedures, prior ipsilateral lower extremity amputations (including digit amputations) and non-English speakers. 30 patients will be enrolled and randomized 1:1 to either a perioperative MBI on the day of surgery (n = 15), or a standard of care control (n = 15). There would be no restriction on anesthesia practice, and collected data will include perioperative pain and sedation requirements and qualitative feedback from both the patients and perioperative staff. Conclusions: This protocol delineates a pilot randomized controlled trial to test the feasibility and acceptability of a novel perioperative MBI for patients undergoing PVIs under PSA
