    Performance maximization of network assisted mobile data offloading with opportunistic Device-to-Device communications

    A. Serdar Tan (MEF Author)Mobile data traffic inside mobile operator's infrastructure is increasing exponentially every year. This increasing demand forces mobile network operators (MNOs) to seek for alternative communication methods in order to relieve the traffic load in base stations, especially in highly populated and crowded environments. Network assisted data offload and Device-to-Device(D2D) communications are two prominent methods to help MNOs solve this problem. In this study, a data offload framework is developed that incorporates network assisted multiple attribute decision making (MADM) for best network selection and D2D communications for exploiting user proximity in crowded environments. The performance of the framework is evaluated with simulation results as well as analytic solutions and performance bounds. The simulation results indicate the superiority of incorporating network-based information besides user-based information in offloading decisions and demonstrates the significant benefits of D2D communications when the density of D2D users is properly adjusted. The simulation results depict that up to 168% and 200% increase in user satisfaction and throughput can be achieved under high network load scenarios at optimal D2D density. (C) 2018 Elsevier B.V.     A progression of strong bands in the 900--2200 \wn~ region are observed in the infrared laser photodissociation spectrum of \chem{Ar_3H^+}.\footnote{D.C. McDonald II, D.T. Mauney, D. Leicht, J.H. Marks, J.A. Tan, J.-L. Kuo, and M.A. Duncan, J. Chem. Phys. 145, 231101 (2016).} In this talk, computational studies were conducted to examine the structures, binding energies, and infrared spectra for \chem{Ar_nH^+} (n=2--3). We found that the minimum structure for \chem{Ar_2H^+} is linear and centrosymmetric, while \chem{Ar_3H^+} can be either T-shaped or linear.\footnote{J.A. Tan and J.-L. Kuo, J. Phys. Chem. A 124, 7726–7734 (2020).} A series of potential energy surfaces at the CCSD(T)/aug-cc-pVTZ level of theory and basis set was constructed and used for the calculation of anharmonic spectrum using discrete variable representation (DVR).\footnote{J.C. Light, I.P. Hamilton, and J. V. Lill, J. Chem. Phys. 82, 1400 (1985).} Anharmonic theory can reproduce the observed strong bands, which were associated with the core \chem{Ar_2H^+} ion.     Shaun Tan is a Melbourne-based artist and author, whose work is celebrated worldwide for the beautiful, dynamic, and mesmerizing story worlds that it offers readers and viewers. In 2011, Tan received the prestigious Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award in honour of his contribution to international children’s literature, and an Academy Award for the short animated film adaptation of The Lost Thing (Ruheman and Tan 2011), which he directed with Andrew Ruhemann. An asymmetric and stereochemically unambiguous construction of diaminopimelic acid and related system using the chiral, non-racemic diphenyl oxazinones glycinate templates has been developed. The preparations of (R,R)-DAP, (S,S)-DAP, (S,S)-2,7-diaminosuberic acid, and mono-N-protected (S,R)-DAP are described. The synthesis of γ-D(L)-glutamyl-L-meso-diaminopimelic acid dipeptide, a subunit of both FK-156 and FK-565, is also described. The availability of both optical antipodes of the glycinate templates renders this chemistry adaptable to prepare all possible diastereoisomers of substances based on the DAP skeleton in optically pure form.Part II. The first total synthesis of anti-MRSA dipeptides TAN-1057 A~D has been achieved. A new efficient method for preparation of amidinoureas has been developed and successfully applied to the total synthesis of TAN-1057. More importantly, this concise total synthesis paves the way for access to analogues that are not available from natural sources. Eight new analogues of TAN-1057 were designed, synthesized and assayed against MRSA. A new synthetic analogue 102 (CY-1800) showed very similar activity to that of TAN-1057. Other analogues prepared showed weak or no activity against Staphylococcus aureus up to 1 mg/mL. The success on discovery of a new potent anti-MRSA analogue proved the usefulness of this highly flexible strategy for the development of better analogues than the natural ones for the potential use as antibiotics

    This project contains the data and code for Orford et al. 2023 'Impacts of exposure to UV radiation and an agricultural pollutant on morphology and behaviour of tadpoles (Limnodynastes tasmaniensis)'. More specifically, behaviour in conspecific cue and simulated predator strike assays, morphological traits, and survival. The data was collected by Jack T. Orford and Jake M. Martin, and R script written by Jack T. Orford, with help from Jake M. Martin and Lesley A. Alton There are separate data frames for some of the above-mentioned traits, behaviour and morphology (orford-behaviour-morphology-data.csv) and survival data (orford-survival-data.csv).
