Trading habits among Indian youth during and post lockdown period: A study
Driven by quarantine boredom, many 18 to 30-year-old Indians have turned to stock trading during the pandemic. India's youth population is driving a boom within the country's investment landscape as millions are piling into stock trading during the pandemic. The coronavirus securities market meltdown in March gave Indian millennials an enormous opportunity to start out investing within the stock exchange. The pandemic which has resulted in people spending more time in their homes might also be another reason for their tilt towards the stock market trading. While the pre-covid period for millennials was less about saving and investment and more about spending, in the post-covid world they seem to be more curious about making and saving money fast through all means possible including risky stock exchange bets and unregulated crypto currencies. India's various and growing online investment platforms like Zerodha and Upstox have also seen a surge in demand, particularly among younger, less experienced investors, as they lower entry fees and ease access to overseas markets. Technology helps Indian youth access the stock markets like never, Indian brokerage companies say
Operational Wind Speed Forecasts for Chile\u27s Electric Power Sector Using a Hybrid ML Model
As Chile\u27s electric power sector advances toward a future powered by renewable energy, accurate forecasting of renewable generation is essential for managing grid operations. The integration of renewable energy sources is particularly challenging due to the operational difficulties of managing their power generation, which is highly variable compared to fossil fuel sources, delaying the availability of clean energy. To mitigate this, we quantify the impact of increasing intermittent generation from wind and solar on thermal power plants in Chile and introduce a hybrid wind speed forecasting methodology which combines two custom ML models for Chile. The first model is based on TiDE, an MLP-based ML model for short-term forecasts, and the second is based on a graph neural network, GraphCast, for medium-term forecasts up to 10 days. Our hybrid approach outperforms the most accurate operational deterministic systems by 4-21% for short-term forecasts and 5-23% for medium-term forecasts and can directly lower the impact of wind generation on thermal ramping, curtailment, and system-level emissions in Chile
Single layer sub-6 GHz leaky dynamic metasurface antenna with wide beam coverage
This work presents a dynamic metasurface antenna(DMA) for beamforming applications featuring a square complementary electric inductive-capacitive (cELC) resonator as the unit cell. The cELC unit cells are embedded in the top layer of a substrate-integrated waveguide (SIW) in a diagonal arrangement, thereby showing minimum interactions while being placed in a compact topology. P-i-n diodes are mounted on either side of the unit cells to dynamically regulate the radiation response such that a binary distribution is generated for beamforming operation. The proposed design successfully radiates the signal at three specific directions 10°, 35°, and 60°, achieving an impressive broadside beam coverage of 124° (excluding a 9°null) in a single-layer architecture. The antenna has an operating frequency of 5.1 GHz with a realized gain of around 5.6 dBi. The antenna’s performance has been rigorously validated through full-wave simulations and experimental measurements. With its wide beam coverage, efficient beam control and simple hardware architecture, this design holds strong potential for advanced sensing and communication applications.<br/
A tell tale handshake
AbstractMyotonic dystrophy is a group of inherited disorders called muscular dystrophies. Clinical presentation of this disease is characterised by progressive muscle weakness with myotonia, cataracts, infertility (in males) and cardiac conduction defects. We present a case of a 35 year old male with lung abscess, later diagnosed to be a case of myotonic dystrophy. Lung abscess is an uncommon presentation of this disease and has never been reported before
