No full textThe National Museum of the Pacific War presents an oral interview with E R Jackson. Jackson went through the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1939. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1940 at Peoria, Illinois, and completed basic training at Shepherd Field, Michigan. Jackson became an airplane mechanic. He joined the 13th Pursuit Squadron, and went to Melbourne, Australia on the SS President Coolidge (1931). He joined the 490th Bomb Squadron in Kunming, China. While in China, Jackson met Madame Chiang, wife of Chiang Kai-shek. Jackson worked as a P-40 mechanic
