Session HS6 "HS6 Impacts of climate change on hydrological response and on water resources management" 1st General Assembly European Geosciences Union (EGU) Nice, France, 25-30 April 2004
Hydrological Sciences Programme - Session HS6 "Impacts of climate change on hydrological response and on water resources management"
The investigation of the effect of climate change and variability on streamflow, water supply and groundwater recharge, varying regionally and between climate scenarios, should be considered indispensable for the development of water resources management policies. Objectives of this session are to evaluate the sensitivity to changes in climate of streamflow, flood magnitude and frequency, flow demands, water yield, soil moisture and groundwater resources, and to present techniques for mitigating the vulnerability of water resources systems to such variability. We particularly seek papers that explore linkages between climate change, water balances and hydrological modelling, effects of climate change on hydro-meteorological extremes and on the phreatic surface. In addition, papers presenting water resource management techniques aiming at adapting to hydrologic effects of climate change, and to additional uncertainty, would be extremely welcome
