    Assessment of the Vibration Influence on Humans in Buildings in the Standards of Different Countries

    No full text
    AbstractGround-born vibration produced by different sources can be annoying to nearby building occupants. Analysing the influence of vibration on humans residing in buildings a similar trend is noticeable. After 2003 there have been changes in standards in this area in many countries. There are some trends to connect the regulations for passive and active perception of vibration in standards approach. Seemingly similar regulations specified in standards can be interpreted differently in various countries. This study presents an analysis of such interpretation in the following standards: Polish PN-88/B-02171, British BS 6472-1, Japanese AIJ-GEH-2004, Australian AS 2670.1–2001, American ANSI S3.29-1983, German DIN 4150-2, and ISO international standards ISO 2631-1 and ISO 2631-2. There were analysed in particular parameters for assessing the influence of vibration on humans, the range of considered frequencies, duration of vibration, signal processing and general approach to the problem

    Approximate Birkhoff-James orthogonality in the space of bounded linear operators

    No full text
    There are two notions of approximate Birkhoff-James orthogonality in a normed space. We characterize both the notions of approximate Birkhoff-James orthogonality in the space of bounded linear operators defined on a normed space. A complete characterization of approximate Birkhoff-James orthogonality in the space of bounded linear operators defined on Hilbert space of any dimension is obtained which improves on the recent result by Chmieliński et al. [ J. Chmieliński, T. Stypula and P. Wójcik, \textit{Approximate orthogonality in normed spaces and its applications}, Linear Algebra and its Applications, \textbf{531} (2017), 305--317.], in which they characterized approximate Birkhoff-James orthogonality of linear operators on finite dimensional Hilbert space and also of compact operators on any Hilbert space

    Proper Names in Polish Proverbs

    No full text
    U članku se određuju značenjske sastavnice u definiranju poslovica te se klasificiraju poslovice s algoremom vlastitih imena prema korpusu iz poljsko-ruskog rječnika poslovica što ga je sastavio Ryszard Stypula. Prema značenjskom kriteriju poslovice s algoremom vlastitog imena podijeljene su u tri grupe: 1) antroponimne poslovice (imena i prezimena); 2) etnonimne poslovice (nazivi naroda i rasa); 3) toponimne poslovice (nazivi gradova). Svaka poslovica analizirana je s obzirom na njeno opće značenje i uspoređivana s hrvatskim ekvivalentima. U zaključku se pokazuje da se poslovice mogu promatrati kao etnolingvističke jedinice govora. Poslovice s algoremom vlastitih imena pokazuju u doslovnom značenju poljski kulturni krug koji se vidi u poljskim imenima ljudi, naroda i gradova, a u prenesenom značenju ta vlastita imena označuju omnipersonalnost koja je u obliku "svak, svaki čovjek" prisutnija u hrvatskim ekvivalentima.The paper deals with the elements of meaning in defining proverbs, as well as with the classifica¬tion of proverbs containing a proper name. The author uses the proverbs from the Polish-Russian Dictionary of Proverbs compiled by Ryszard Stypula. The proverbs containing a proper name are classified according to the criterium of meaning into three groups: (1) anthroponymic proverbs (first and family names); (2) ethnonymic proverbs (names of nations and races) and (3) toponymic proverbs (names of places). Each proverb has been analysed in accordance with its general meaning and in comparison with its Croatian counterpart. The concluding part of the paper shows that proverbs can be observed as ethnolinguistic units of speech. The proverbs containing a proper name show — in their denotative meaning — Polish cul¬tural environment which can be observed through the Polish names of people, nations and places, and —in their connotative meaning—these proper names show the omnipersonality which is also present in their Croatian counterparts in the form "everyone; everybody"

    Observation of B-s(0) -> J/psi f(0)(980) and Evidence for B-s(0) -> J/psi f(0)(1370)

    We report the observation of B-s(0) -> J/psi f(0(980)) and evidence for B-s(0) -> J/psi f(0)(1370), which are CP eignstate decay modes. These results are obtained from 121.4 fb(-1) of data collected at the Y(5S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e(+)e(-) collider. We measure the branching fractions B(B-s(0) -> J/psi f(0)(980); f(0)(980) -> pi(+)pi(-)) = (1.16(-0.19)(+0.31)(stat)(-0.17)(+0.15)(syst)(-0.18)(+0.26)(N-Bs(*)(B) over bars(*))) X 10(-4) with a significance of 8.4 sigma, and B(B-s(0) -> j/psi f(0)(1370); f(0)(1370) -> pi(+)pi(-)) = (0.34(-0.14)(+0.11)(stat)(-0.02)(+0.03)(syst)(-0.05)(+0.08) (N-Bs(*)(B) over bars(*))) X 10(-4) with a significance of 4.2 sigma. The last error listed is due to uncertainty in the number of produced B-s((*)) (B) over bar ((*))(s) pairs.LPH

    Efficacy and tolerability of diclofenac potassium sachets in acute postoperative dental pain: a placebo-controlled, randomised, comparative study vs. diclofenac potassium tablets

    No full text
    This double-blind, randomised, parallel-group trial compared the analgesic efficacy of single 50 mg doses of diclofenac potassium sachets and tablets with placebo in 184 patients with moderate/severe pain after third molar extraction. The primary efficacy variable was the average pain reduction from baseline during the first 2-h postdose, using a visual analogue scale (VAS). During the first 2-h postdose, sachets and tablets significantly reduced pain (p < 0.05) vs. placebo with an incremental benefit seen for sachets over tablets (p < 0.05). Onset of analgesic effect (VAS) was at 30 min for sachets and 45 min for tablets. Pain reduction vs. placebo (VAS) was maintained for 8 h for sachets and tablets (p < 0.05). VAS-findings were confirmed by pain relief and intensity verbal scale assessments. Fewer patients remedicated vs. placebo. No safety issues were identified. This study demonstrates that both diclofenac potassium sachets and tablets offer patients suffering from acute pain conditions an effective treatment with incremental analgesic benefits seen for sachets

    We present preliminary results on the reconstruction of the B0J/ψKL0B^0\to J\mskip1mu / \psi\mskip 2mu K^0_{\scriptscriptstyle L} decay, where J/ψμ+μJ\mskip 1mu /\psi\mskip 2mu\to\mu^+\mu^- or e+ee^+e^-. Using a dataset corresponding to aluminosity of 62.8\pm0.6\mbox{fb}^{-1} collected by the Belle II experimentat the SuperKEKB asymmetric energy e+ee^+e^- collider, we measure a total of267±21267\pm21 candidates with J/ψμ+μJ\mskip 1mu / \psi\mskip 2mu\to\mu^+\mu^- and226±20226\pm20 with with J/ψe+eJ\mskip 1mu / \psi\mskip 2mu\to e^+e^-.
