Multidimensional upwind residual distribution schemes for the convection-diffusion equation
Multidimensional residual distribution schemes for the convection-diffusion equation are described. Compact upwind cell vertex schemes are used for the discretization of the convective term. For the diffusive term, two approaches are compared: the classical finite element Galerkin formulation, which preserves the compactness of the stencil used for the convective part, and various residual-based approaches in which the diffusive term, evaluated after a reconstruction step, is upwinded along with the convective term.FLWINinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishe

Acute and chronic effect of molsidomine extended release on exercise capacity in patients with stable angina, a double-blind cross-over clinical trial versus placebo
A double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover study was performed in 50 patients with ischemic heart disease and stable angina to determine the duration of efficacy of 8 mg molsidomine in extended-release form. Exercise testing was performed at baseline and 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 h after intake of either the medication or the placebo. Total duration of exercise (in minutes) and total work performance (workload x min) was significantly improved in the molsidomine retard group, not only compared with baseline but also with placebo for all timepoints. ST segment depression at 60 W and at maximal exercise improved similarly until 10 h after molsidomine retard treatment. The rate-pressure product (heart rate x systolic blood pressure) showed significant improvement only at 60 W. No attenuation of the obtained effects was observed after 14 days of treatment. The number of anginal attacks and the consumption of sublingual nitroderivates were significantly reduced with molsidomine retard 8 mg as compared with placebo. Molsidomine retard 8 mg is effective until at least 10 h after oral (p.o.) intake. A dose schedule of molsidomine retard 8 mg twice daily definitely reduces anginal symptoms.SCOPUS: ar.jinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishe
Forensic Entomology Investigations From Doctor Marcel Leclercq (1924-2008): A Review ofCases From lg69 to 2005
peer reviewedDoctor Marcel Leclercq was a pioneer in the field of forensic entomology. He has provided his knowledge of insect biology to many forensic cases, and most of them have found the way to publication. Most of the papers he has written were focused on individual cases, and despite the abundance of entomoforensic investigations he conducted, no synthesis has been published. This paper summarizes 36 years of forensic entomological investigations in temperate Europe, mainly in Belgium. Leclercq’s work includes 132 entomological cases involving 141 human corpses found in various death scenes. Under certain conditions, insect specimens found on death scene can provide information on when (postmortem interval estimation), where and how a person died. More or less one hundred insect species associated to a dead body have been identified by Marcel Leclercq
Dupuytren's disease. Review of 326 surgically treated patients
peer reviewedThe COC (Orthopedic Society of Charleroi) has presented an analysis of operated cases. We have taken 326 files into account. The pre-operative evaluation is based upon the classification by Tubiana, Michon and Thomine. The analysis pays special attention to the post-operative results in terms of several factors: the age, the stage of illness, the extent of illness and the improvement. For this final summing up, we put forward criteria which for us are better in the evaluation of the final result
