How yo’ all
If you’ll notice I have a new address on the front of this card. However I haven’t moved, it\u27s just that the Commandant changed our name
Oh, may I request (that’s if it is within your power to do so) a change on your list of cigars instead of pipe tobacco. However, if you do not deal in “El Ropos” I still like pipe tobacco
Gratefully yours “Eddie” [Transcription ends

Dear Miss Blaney
You asked, “How soon do you leave Newport?” I’m afraid that answer will have to be avoided--but I can say that our training does not officially end until a week from today. I have been told concerning my next destination but that is considered a military secret.
I believe anything you would send to this station would be forwarded to me directly as I’m scheduled for school. However, if I was headed for Sea I doubt if I’d get the package.
I just hope everyone is as happy at Bryant as I am here.
Yours truly,
Edward Healey
P.S. Thanks loads for remembering a soul of the likes of me. [Transcription ends

[Transcription begins] August 3rd
Dear Miss Blaney,
I wish to thank the Club for sending me a copy of “On the Campus;” I enjoyed reading it very much.
I received a tin of “Prince Albert Smoking Tobacco” and, as there was no return address on the wrapping I was in doubt as to who sent it, but figured it came from the Club. Am I right? If so, thanks--.
Please excuse the notebook paper but there is no writing paper for sale on the base. The store took inventory the other day so I image [sic] they will get a new supply in shortly.
I do hope the graduation is run off in grand style and that the Graduation Ball is a social success.
Give my best wishes to all.
Gratefully yours Eddie Healey
P.S. Would be grateful if someone would inform me concerning the tobacco so that I may look around for someone else to thank if it did not come from the school. [Transcription ends

Dear Members of the Bryant Service Club,
Yes, I have a new address and as you well notice I’m getting near home each time I’m changed. I completed my “boot” training at Newport and then was sent away down South to Jacksonville Florida, however, my next change took me to Charleston So. Carolina from here I expected to see duty but instead the Bureau of Navigation ordered me to this, my present base.
I received a can of tobacco on May 28th and thought I sent a note of thanks but perhaps I failed to do so.
I’ve been planning to drop you a note but have delayed a lot of writing in order to go to the hospital in St. Albans L. I. to have a few minor repair. I’m now back at my base in sick bay recuperating from a recent operation but should be back to duty soon. I would have been at the hospital longer but there was immediate need for bed space due to the arrival of a hospital ship from the Sicilian Campaign.
It was great to learn thru your last of the class of “43” where many of my ex-classmates are located.
Thanks for your generous gifts which certainly come in handy here where we lack canteen facilities.
Keep up the good work.
RegardsEddie Healey.
