Understanding the Impact of Situational Factors on Green Purchase Intention in Retailing: A Study of Young Consumers

    No full text
Much research has been devoted to understanding sustainable consumption using factors from the theory of planned behaviour. However, very few researchers have studied the role of situational factors in this context. The present study is aimed to analyse the impact of preference of retail store and transportation mode on green purchase intention, which in turn affects sustainable consumption behaviour among retail consumers. A survey by questionnaire method was used to collect data from young Indian consumers from Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Delhi. Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, data was collected through online mode from 280 respondents by adopting quota sampling. Linear regression analysis was performed to test the proposed hypotheses. The findings of the study reveal that the preference for retail stores have a significant positive effect on green purchase intention while transportation mode has a significant negative impact on green purchase intention. The two situational factors explain more than 27% of the variance in consumers\u27 intention to purchase green products. The study also reported a significant positive impact of green purchase intention on sustainable consumption among young retail consumers. Finally, green purchase intention explained a 63% variance in sustainable consumption

The COVID-19 pandemic caused serious disruptions to all economic activities across the globe. Besides other sectors that were significantly affected, production and marketing of agricultural products particularly horticulture remained among the seriously hit. The purpose of this study is to assess the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic and the measures implemented by the government to prevent its spread on the farm income of apple growers in Kashmir. The study is based on primary data collected from farmers of the Southern districts of Kashmir Valley by adopting convenience sampling. Partial least square- structural equation modelling was employed to analyze the data using SmartPLS. The study found that fear of Covid-19 and the lockdown strongly affected workforce availability, market prices, and distribution channel management. However, the impact of the lockdown on apple production was found to be insignificant. The study also found that production, workforce availability, market prices, and distribution channel management significantly influenced the income of apple growers. The reason is self-inhibition towards buying, unless extremely necessary. Moreover, the produce lying in the cold chains was sold at cheaper prices due to the unavailability of potential buyers and disturbance in the distribution system. The results of the study can help policymakers in taking preventive measures without sacrificing the livelihood of families associated with horticulture

    No full text
Purpose – The purpose of this study is to summarize the available pool of literature on service quality to identify different dimensions of service quality in the healthcare industry and understand how it is measured. The study attempts to explore the research gaps in the literature about different service quality dimensions and patient satisfaction. Design/methodology/approach – A systematic literature review process was followed to achieve the objectives of the study. Various inclusion and exclusion criteria were used to select relevant research articles from 2000–2020 for the study, and a total of 100 research articles were selected. Findings – The study identified 41 different dimensions of healthcare service quality measurement and classified these dimensions into four categories, namely servicescape, personnel, hospital administration and patients. It can be concluded that SERVQUAL is the most widely used service quality measurement tool. Originality/value – The study identified that a majority of the researchers deduced a positive relationship between SERVQUAL dimensions and the quality of healthcare services. The findings of study will assist hospital executives in formulating effective strategies to ensure that patients receive superior quality healthcare services
