Foreword. Dedicated to Professor Luminița Silaghi-Dumitrescu on Her 65th Anniversary
Professor Luminița Silaghi-Dumitrescu was born on March 9th 1951, in Brasov, where she got the primary and secondary education. In 1970 she became an undergraduate student in chemistry, at Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, where she graduated with a MSc degree in 1974. In 1983 she obtained the PhD in chemistry with a thesis on Metallic and Organometallic Dithioarsinates (supervisor Professor Ionel Haiduc), a work which contributed significantly to the field. After a short period of working in the chemical industry (1975-1978), she became a researcher with the Institute of Chemical Research in Cluj-Napoca, where she was active between 1978-1986. After this period, she joined the staff of the Faculty of Chemistry with Babes-Bolyai University and became lecturer in chemistry (1986-1994), associate professor (1994-1999) and eventually full professor (1999-to date). She acted as dean of the Faculty (2002-2007) and vice-rector of Babes-Bolyai University (2008-2012)
