Universals of Epic Formulas in the Yakut Olonkho and Shor Epic: Comparative Aspect
The article provides a comparative analysis of epic formulas from the Shor epic with similar constructions from the Yakut olonkho formed on the basis of rhythmic and syntactic parallelism. The relevance of the study is due to the need to identify the degree of interconnection between the Yakut olonkho and the Shor epic at the level of epic formulas, which still remains outside the field of view of researchers. The novelty of the study lies in the fact that when sampling material from the Yakut epic, the author is not limited to examples from the same olonkho text, but uses a more varied approach and involves formulas from several texts. In the analysis of epic formulas, the main focus is on keywords, as well as on the general context of the peripheral components of stable constructions. As a result of the study, it is established that the analyzed examples are universals in which the uniformity of the structure and the commonality of the content are viewed. According to the author of the article, these universals are the result of a common origin and culture of peoples. It is concluded that the patterns of rhythmic-syntactic parallelism are preserved due to the stability of epic formulas and indicate a genetic relationship between the Yakut olonkho and the Shor epic

The relevance of this topic is conditioned by the need for a systematic study of the nature of mythological consciousness caused by the growing trend of recognising myth as a powerful spiritual tool possessing humanistic value. This article studies the features of the spatial and temporal organisation of the epic worlds of Yakut and Shor tales. Space and time serve as fundamental categories that model the world of nations. The subject of this article is mythological chronotope, i. e. world modeling in the epic traditions of the Yakuts and Shors. The author identifies and analyses elements of mythopoetic views expressed in plot motifs, which are deep layers of folklore texts related to the archaic sensory perception of ancient people. The author aims to demonstrate similarities and differences in the mythological world-modeling of the Yakut and Shor epics. The paper employs a comparative typological approach, using methods of description, hermeneutics, modeling, and structural and semantic analysis. The author concludes that in the Yakut and Shor epic traditions, there is a single principle in the world modeling of epic spaces and a common logic of mythological geography. At the same time, the comparison of texts in question demonstrates that while there exists a fairly harmonious mythological system of Yakut epos, the Shor system bears signs of reflection of certain features of the archaic myth, containing very early elements indicating an earlier stage in the tradition, and characterised by a greater transparency of meanings. As a result, new editions of Shor epos are going to be even more interesting for further comparative studies.Исследование выполнено в рамках научно-исследовательского проекта Северо-Восточного федерального университета «Эпический памятник нематериальной культуры якутов: текстологический, типологический, когнитивный и историко-сравнительный аспекты».The study was carried out as part of the North-Eastern Federal University research project “Epic Monument of the Yakut Intangible Culture: Textological, Typological, Cognitive, and Historical-comparative Aspects”

A numerical analysis of the NPA semidenite programming hierarchy for the Mod P game
Thesis: M. Eng., Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, 2017.This electronic version was submitted by the student author. The certified thesis is available in the Institute Archives and Special Collections.Cataloged from student-submitted PDF version of thesis.Includes bibliographical references (pages 67-68).The Mod P game is a generalization of the famous CHSH game [6] to a field of order p. The CHSH game corresponds to the Mod P game for the value of p = 2. The CHSH game was one of the earliest and most important results in quantum mechanics because it predicted a clear and experimentally verifiable separation between classical and quantum physics in the form of a Bell's inequality violation. In this thesis, we study the maximum winning probability for the Mod P game over the set of quantum strategies. For p = 2, an early result by Tsirelson [15] showed that the maximum winning probability by a quantum strategy is 0:854. This result is also tight in that it is achievable. Here we are interested in studying the game for values of p > 2 which has seen little progress over the years. This research thesis serves two purposes. The first is to create a self contained reference for some of the most important results in the area. Among these results, a prominent work is the NPA hierarchy [13] of semidenite programs for testing whether a given bipartite correlation corresponds to a valid quantum mechanical experiment. The second part of this thesis is an implementation of this hierarchy for the Mod P game. In the first level of the hierarchy, we obtain numerical results that match analytic upper bounds by Bavarian and Shor [2]. We also nd that the Bavarian and Shor bound is tighter than the first level NPA hierarchy value for a prime power p. In a collaborative work with Matthew Coudron we also present an approach for a semidenite relaxation of the Mod P game using unitary operators. This approach brings us closer to achieving an exact analytic solution for the winning probability of the Mod P game.by Shalom Abate.M. Eng
