No full textDespite the criticism expressed by its first editor (Antonio Rocchi), the anonymous “iambic” canon for 1 January (feasts of the Circumcision of the Lord and of Basil of Caesarea) seems to be one of the best Byzantine liturgical hymns written in dodecasyllables. In this paper, after dealing with the manuscript tradition of the canon (of which Rocchi knew only one defective witness), the author analyzes its refined tetrastich acrostic, consisting in a couple of elegiac distichs formed by the initials of all the lines of the hymn, and discusses its uncertain authorship

Di tutti i testimoni presi in considerazione viene offerta una sintetica descrizione paleografica e testuale. ENG: reasoned list of italo-greek Synaxaria identified so far (some of which "discovered" by the author) belonging to the recensiones B*, C* and F* of the Constantinopolitan liturgical book, with the proposal of an innovative hypothesis for the reconstruction of its penetration in Southern Italy. No full textThe article deals with the “strategos” of Sicily Mousilikes, protagonist of one of the miracula post mortem reported in the Life of the Constantinopolitan patriarch Ignatius ascribed to Niketas-David Paphlagon. The author of this article critically analyzes the assimilation, first affirmed by Michele Amari, between the above episode and a historical event which is mentioned only in an Arab source, reconstructing the career of the homonymous historical figure, who is mentioned in documentary and sigillographic sources: he suggests that this particular episode of the Ignatian Bios may be the result of a conscious slight distortion of an historical event by Niketas-David Paphlagon for his own ideological purposes

Prevalenza di Listeria monocytogenes e Salmonella spp. in suini destinati alla produzione del prosciutto di parma
No full textGli accordi internazionali attualmente in vigore sulle misure sanitarie e fitosanitarie identificano l’analisi del rischio come strumento per motivare eventuali restrizioni al commercio di animali e prodotti di origine animale; analisi del rischio che deve essere fondata, per quanto possibile, su dati oggettivi raccolti lungo la filiera di produzione.
In quest’ottica, l’obiettivo del lavoro è stato quello di stabilire la prevalenza di Salmonella spp. e Listeria monocytogenes all’interno di stabilimenti in cui vengono macellati i suini le cui cosce sono destinate alla produzione del prosciutto di Parma.
Tra settembre 2003 e febbraio 2005 sono state campionate 791 carcasse di suino per ricerca e conta di Salmonella spp. e di L. monocytogenes e 511 campioni di materiale fecale per la presenza/assenza degli stessi patogeni. I suini - provenienti da allevamenti ubicati in Lombardia, Emilia Romagna, Piemonte e Veneto - sono stati macellati in 13 stabilimenti selezionati in base all’intensità di macellazione. I lotti di animali da campionare in ciascun macello sono stati selezionati in modo da garantire la rappresentatività degli allevamenti conferenti.
La ricerca di L. monocytogenes è stata effettata secondo la metodica ISO 11290:1998 parte 1 e 2 mentre per Salmonella spp. sono state utilizzate la ISO 6579:2002 ed il metodo MPN previsto dalla USDA MLG.4.02.
In tutti i macelli sono state evidenziate positività per Salmonella spp. con una stretta correlazione tra feci e carcasse, mentre L. monocytogenes è stata isolata soltanto in 7 stabilimenti su 13. Sulle carcasse sono state riscontrate prevalenze di L. monocytogenes del 2,3%, mentre un solo animale è risultato portatore (0,2%).
Prevalenze superiori sono state determinate per Salmonella spp., riscontrata nel 9,6% degli animali e nel 14,3% delle carcasse.
Gli isolati di L. monocytogenes appartengono ai 3 sierotipi 1/2 a, 1/2 b e 1/2 c. Quindici diversi sierotipi di Salmonella spp. sono stati isolati dalle carcasse e 8 dai campioni di materiale fecale. I sierotipi più ricorrenti sono S. derby, S. tiphymurium, S. london, S. bredney e S. anatum.
Se i portatori fecali non sembrano rappresentare la principale fonte di contaminazione da L. monocytogenes, altrettanto non si può affermare per Salmonella spp.. I risultati ottenuti evidenzio ancora una volta l’importanza dell’applicazione delle GMP, dello stretto controllo di tempi e temperature nelle varie fasi di macellazione e della necessità di applicare maggiori controlli a livello di allevamento

No full textStudio analitico (filologico e paleografico) dei testimoni manoscritti (a quelli in precedenza già noti l'autore aggiunge i codici Vaticani Barb. gr. 358 e Vat. gr. 2046), che tramandano il semestre invernale di una fra le più antiche recensioni del Sinassario di Costantinopoli, la cosiddetta recensio B*, volto a indagarne i rapporti esistenti col capostipite della recensio, il famosissimo libro miniato eseguito per Basilio II Bulgaroctono trasmesso nel ms. Vat. gr. 1613.Analytical study (philological and paleographic) of the manuscript witnesses (the author adds the Vatican codices Barb. gr. 358 and Vat gr. 2046 to those previously known), which hand down the winter semester of one of the earliest recensiones of the Synaxarion of Constantinople, the so-called B * recensio. This study aims to investigate the existing relations between these witnesses and the founder of the recensio, i.e. the famous illuminated book realized for Basil II "the Bulgar-slayer " handed on by the manuscript Vat gr. 1613
Emergence of quinolone-resistant Shigella flexneri in Italy (March 2017)
No full textIn March 2017, a 45-year-old Italian man who has sex with men was admitted to the Infectious Diseases Department of Trieste Hospital (northeast Italy), because of fever, abdominal pain and dysentery. The patient had neither foreign travel history nor sexual contact with non-Italian partners. Stool cultures grew multidrug-resistant Shigella flexneri (resistant to ampicillin, chloramphenicol, streptomycin, tetracycline, trimethoprim, amoxicillin/clavulanic acid and ciprofloxacin) and whole genome sequencing detailed the resistance features. The phylogenetic analysis showed that the strain was unrelated to any previously reported strain. The patient was treated successfully with ceftriaxone. We hereby report the first case of locally-acquired, multidrug-resistant S. flexneri infection in Italy and also the emergence of a new clone
Microneurosurgical Management of Posterior Inferior Cerebellar Artery Aneurysms: Results of a Consecutive Series
No full textAneurysms of the posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA) are uncommon. The complex anatomy of PICA and its intimate relationships with medulla, lower cranial nerves, and jugular tubercle makes the surgical treatment of these aneurysms fascinating. The reported is study aimed at a critical review of the overall results of a personal series of PICA aneurysms, treated by the senior author, R. Galzio. Demographics, charts, videos, outcome, and follow-up of a cohort of PICA aneurysms managed in the last 10 years were retrospectively analyzed, focusing only upon those treated with microneurosurgery. Twenty-five patients, harboring a single aneurysm, were operated on. Fifteen aneurysms were ruptured. Nineteen were proximal, all of these being been treated through a far-lateral approach. Trans-condylar or trans-tubercular variants were rarely necessary and however reserved to peculiar cases. Twenty-three aneurysms underwent direct treatment consisting of clip ligation. At 6-month follow-up, 60% of patients had a modified Rankin Score (mRS) of 0-2. Given the high anatomical variability of both PICA and patients' bony anatomy, a case-by-case meticulous preoperative imaging evaluation is mandatory for the choice of the most suitable and tailored surgical corridor which, in turn, is pivotal to achieve the best outcome
