Examining the Potential Benefits and Ethical Risks of GenAI in Lesson Planning: A TAM Approach
Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) is a transformative technology in education, especially in lesson planning (LP). This research examines pre-service teachers\u27 (PSTs) perceptions of GenAI benefits and ethical risks in LP, with consideration for the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). The findings show that PSTs are generally cognizant of the benefits and ethical ramifications of GenAI use. PSTs demonstrated a positive attitude toward integrating GenAI in lesson planning and recognized the relevance and varying levels of incorporation into their current practice. The data also highlighted that the relationship of key TAM variables influenced how PSTs view and adopt GenAI. The findings provided support for the collect construct of perceived usefulness (PU) and perceived ease of use (PEU) mediating the relationship between attitude (ATT) and use (AU). These findings contributed relevant information to inform teacher education, illustrating the need for training that balances the practical benefits and ethical dimensions of GenAI. This research can serve as a starting point for future research, curricular design, and policy making regarding the responsible and informed use of GenAI in teacher preparation
The music of Hamish MacCunn (1868-1916): a critical study
Apart from a single study of Jeanie Deans, MacCunn's music has, to date, never received a detailed examination. This thesis aims to provide a contextual basis for, and a stylistic analysis of, his major works, and so establish informed criteria by which a truer assessment of MacCunn's significance may be made, challenging the sovereignty of Land of the Mountain and the Flood in the public's reckoning of his compositions and hence revealing it to be not an isolated peak but one summit among many. Hamish MacCunn (1868-1916) grew up in Greenock on the west coast of Scotland before removing to London at the tender age of 15 to further his musical studies at the Royal College of Music. His assimilation of a robust orchestral technique was rapid and before he reached his twentieth birthday he had already tasted the pleasures of public approbation. Thereafter, a sequence of orchestral works, cantatas, songs and two grand operas with a pronounced Scottish character appeared in the late eighties and nineties. It is this period which is the focus of the study, but later works dating from MacCunn's time conducting West End shows are also discussed. Through a generic survey of his output, the thesis locates the composer's works within a historical and biographical framework, isolating characteristic traits both novel and derived from the earlier Nineteenth Century inheritance, and evaluating his position as a composer of his time and afterwards. In particular his strengths and penchants as a composer have been identified with special emphasis on the composer’s bias for dramatic or narrative music, amply demonstrated in his overtures, cantatas and, above all, his two operas Jeanie Deans and Diarmid. To complement the chapters on MacCunn's musical works, an opening biographical chapter, a comprehensive catalogue, a family tree, iconography and bibliography have been provided. Throughout the thesis, reference has been made to primary sources held in Glasgow and other libraries throughout Britain and the United States, in an attempt to arrive at as complete a picture of MacCunn as possible
The Ophelia versions : representations of a dramatic type, 1600-1633
‘The Ophelia Versions: Representations of a Dramatic Type from 1600-1633’ interrogates early modern drama’s use of the Ophelia type, which is defined in reference to Hamlet’s Ophelia and the behavioural patterns she exhibits: abandonment, derangement and suicide.
Chapter one investigates Shakespeare’s Ophelia in Hamlet, finding that Ophelia is strongly identified with the ballad corpus. I argue that the popular ballad medium that Shakespeare imports into the play via Ophelia is a subversive force that contends with and destabilizes the linear trajectory of Hamlet’s revenge tragedy narrative. The alternative space of Ophelia’s ballad narrative is, however, shut down by her suicide which, I argue, is influenced by the models of classical theatre. This ending conspires with the repressive legal and social restrictions placed upon early modern unmarried women and sets up a dangerous precedent by killing off the unassimilated abandoned woman.
Chapter two argues that Shakespeare and Fletcher’s The Two Noble Kinsmen amplifies Ophelia’s folk and ballad associations in their portrayal of the Jailer’s Daughter. Her comedic marital ending is enabled by a collaborative, communal, folk-cure. The play nevertheless registers a proto-feminist awareness of the peculiar losses suffered by early modern women in marriage and this knowledge deeply troubles the Jailer’s Daughter’s happy ending.
Chapter three explores the role of Lucibella in The Tragedy of Hoffman arguing that the play is a direct response to Hamlet’s treatment of revenge and that Lucibella is caught up in an authorial project of disambiguation which attempts to return the revenge plot to its morality roots. Chapters four and five explore the narratives of Aspatia in The Maid’s Tragedy and Penthea in The Broken Heart, finding in their very conformism to the behaviours prescribed for them, both by the Ophelia type itself and by early modern society in general, a radical protest against the limitations and repressions of those roles.
This thesis is consistently invested in the competing dialectics and authorities of oral and textual mediums in these plays. The Ophelia type, perhaps because of Hamlet’s Ophelia’s identification with the ballad corpus, proves an interesting gauge of each play’s engagement with emergent notions of textual authority in the early modern period
Popular song in early modern drama 1580-1620
This dissertation investigates the reciprocal relationship between the song culture of early modern England and its representation in drama of the late sixteenth and early
seventeenth centuries. Unlike past studies, no preference is given to any particular playwright. Rather, the dissertation considers evidence from close to 100 plays in which songs, references to song, and elements of song culture are most abundant.
The study begins with an exploration into the particular ability of early modern audience members to recognise and appreciate sophisticated references to song as they
encountered them in drama. Next there is a discussion of some of the more famous characters of song culture whose narratives and reputations – effectively lost to us now
– were regularly mined by playwrights. The third part of the study investigates song’s power as represented in fictive spaces. Chapter 4 examines dramatic representations of song performance by elites and their relationship to contemporary decorum. Lastly, Chapter 5 focuses on a point in London’s history where its dramatists appear to have
been particularly keen to capitalize on song’s function as a consolidator of cultural identity.
The overriding impression at the end of the study is of early modern playwrights basing representations of song and singing less upon contemporary beliefs surrounding
music, its power, and its place in the cosmos, and more upon phenomenological observation of song as it operates in people and in their society

“Tree of Hope”
What is the “Tree of Hope”?
The “Tree of Hope” is a project each year dedicated
to recognizing and remembering our loved ones at
this joyous time of giving and family celebrations.
The trees designated as the “Tree of Hope” will be
located on the roof and outside the front entrance of
the Hospital. Anyone wishing to support the
Hospital Auxiliary in this venture can participate by
making a donation to put a light on the trees.
The funds raised will be used towards the purchase
of another electric bed, as well as priority needs in
Magrath Hospital. All funds raised in Magrath stay
in our community to enhance local health care
service.
In recognition of a loved one who is living, a red
light will be lit. In memory of a loved one who is
deceased, a green light will be lit.
When you make a donation of 10 or more.
The “Tree of Hope” will be lit from November 29
to January 7,2002.
Lights will be lit as donations are received.

RUNNER-UP *5 "'J'
From England: A motorist was unknowingly caught
in an automated speed trap that measured his speed
using radar and photographed his car. He later
received in the mail a ticket for 40 Pounds and a
photo of his car. Instead of payment, he sent the
police department a photograph of 40 Pounds.
Several days later, he received a letter from the
police that contained another picture...of
handcuffs. The motorist promptly sent the money
for the fine.
RUNNER-UP #4
Drug Possession Defendant Christopher Jansen, on
trial in March in Pontiac, Michigan, said he had
been searched without a warrant. The prosecutor
said the officer didn’t need a warrant because a
“bulge” in Christopher’s jacket could have been a
gun. “Nonsense,” said Christopher, who happened
to be wearing the same jacket that day in court. He
handed it over so the judge could see it. The judge
discovered a packet of cocaine in the pocket and
laughed so hard he required a five minute recess to
compose himself.

For Chocolate Lovers... 71
Chocolate is a Vegetable: Chocolate is \
derived from cocoa beans. Bean =
vegetable. Sugar is derived from either
sugar CANE or sugar BEETS. Both are
plants, which places them in the
vegetable category. Thus, chocolate is a
vegetable. To go one step further, x
chocolate candy bars also contain milk, 7
which is dairy. So candy bars are a
health food.
Chocolate covered raisins, cherries,
orange slices and strawberries all count
as fruit, so eat as many as you want.
If you've got melted chocolate all over
your hands, you're eating it too slowly.
The problem: How to get 2 pounds of
chocolate home from the store in a hot
car. The solution: Eat it in the parking
lot.
Diet Tip: Eat a chocolate bar before
each meal. It'll take the edge off your
appetite, and you'll eat less.
Chocolate has many preservatives.
Preservatives make you look younger.
Put ‘eat chocolate' at the top of your
list of things to do today. That way, at
least you'll get one thing done.
A nice box of chocolates can provide
your total daily intake of calories in one
place. Now, isn't that handy?
If not for chocolate, there would be no
need for control top pantyhose. An
entire garment industry would be
devastated. You can't let that happen,
can you? ........................
REMEMBER: “Stressed" spelled
backwards is ‘desserts'.

MAYOR'S PROCLAMATION
CANADIAN DENTAL HEALTH MONTH
"SMILE WITH STYLE"
Dental disease is still one of the most common chronic
concerns in Canada. And yet, it is almost completely
preventable, the cornerstone of prevention is to make a
personal commitment to care for one's month on a daily
basis throughout life.
Now 1, David Lowiy, do hereby proclaim the month of
April 1993 DENTAL HEALTH MONTH in Magrath and
urge all citizens to be aware of dental health and to practice
those habits necessary to maintain their dental health.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand
and caused the seal of the Town of Magrath to be affixed
this 31st day of March 1993.
Signed Mayor Dave Lowry
MAGRATH HANDIBUS ASSOCIATION

GOD'S GRACE
He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our
iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
Isaiah 53:5
It shouldn't be that difficult for us, living in the 20th century,
to relate to the events that transpired on that woeful Friday
so long ago. Although we no longer have crucifixions, we
have devised faster ways to do away with people. Our riots
tend to go way beyond shouting and name-calling. Hatred and
jealousy are still very evident among people today - they just
seem to have become more sophisticated, or veiled in different
forms. When we think about it, not much has changed. We
human beings are still the same: selfish, cruel, and intent on
satisfying our own desires, no matter what.
God saw our condition and, in His grace, decided to rescue us
from our pathetic predicament. He sent His own Son to show
us how to love one another, and to take upon Himself the
punishment our cruelty and selfishness deserved. And so
Jesus did! He lived among us and showed us how to love,
serve, and care for one another. He reconciled us to our
heavenly Father by taking upon Himself the suffering,
pain, and death that our sinful nature deserves. And then
He promised to grant us new life, now and for all eternity.
Submitted by Pastor Brian Amison -St. John Lutheran Church
As Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday
Saints we, with many others of the Christian world
anticipate the coming of Easter and its celebration in
commemoration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
President Gordon B. Hinckley said,
" Of all the victories in human history, none is so
great, none so universal in its effect, none so
everlasting in its consequences as the victory of the
crucified Lord who came forth in the Resurrection
that first Easter morning.
We laud the captains and the kings, we praise the
nations that are victorious against oppressors. We
appropriately build monuments to remember their
sacrifices and their triumphs over the forces of
oppression. But great and important as are these
achievements, none can compare with the victory of
the lonely, pain-racked figure on Calvary's cross who
triumphed over death and brought the gift of eternal
life to all mankind." (Ensign,May 1988 p.66)
Have a Happy Easter

Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints.
EASTER
A SPECIAL TIME OF YEAR
"I believe that
the Saviour
loves you so
much, that even
if you were the
only person
alive in the
world, He
would have
died on the
cross just for
you !"
M. Richard
Maxfield
"The Good News goes on ..."
Rev. Douglas E. Cowan"
The other night I heard a T.V. preacher say-thunder,
actually-that "Jesus Christ died once for all,
two thousand years ago. His crucifixion is over and
his resurrection is over." And I got to thinking how
convinced I was of that, because it not only limits our
understanding of who Jesus was and who Jesus could
be, it also limits our understanding of how God
participates in our world. And more importantly, how
we are encouraged to participate in God's world.
Jesus said, ’’When you do it to the least of these, you
do it to me. "(Matthew 25:31-46) I take this very
seriously, because I believe that both the crucifixion
and the resurrection are played out everyday in a
thousand different ways. The difference between the
crucifixion and the resurrection is precisely the
difference between choosing death and choosing life.
Wherever a woman or a child is beaten by an abusive
husband or father, there is crucifixion; wherever
someone leaves a situation of abuse and says, "No
more. The violence will stop," there is resurrection.
Moses said to the people of Israel, "Today, I have set
before you life and death, blessings and curses.
Choose life..." The choice is no different at Easter.
It's all a question of where we choose to live. We can
survive for a time on the hili at Golgotha, or we can
choose abundant life at the empty tomb by
participating in the resurrection. The choice is ours.
As George Bums said,"It always has been.”

UNITED CHURCH WOMEN
On Tuesday, March 30, seven
members of the Magrath U.C.W.
PREPARED AND SERVED
DINNER at the LETHBRIDGE
SOUP KITCHEN. Arrangements had
been made well in advance.
It was an entirely new
experience for us all. The building is
quite new, spacious, bright, cheerful
and immaculately clean. There is a
large storage space with shelves,
work tables, freezers,a walk-in fridge
and freezer, a commercial gas stove
and dishwashers.
We were amazed at the
donations of food from businesses
and organizations. We had a choice
of menus and opted to make
"chicken a la king" along with lots
of vegetables, mashed potatoes,
cabbage salad, beet pickles, bread
and butter, doughnuts for dessert,
milk, orange juice, tea or coffee.
Food is served buffet style.
Only 35 came for dinner
that day; including one women with
two children and four natives. All
who came were neat, quiet ,polite
and most appreciative and
complimentary on the "good
dinner ".Clean-up didn't take long
and we felt good about having helped
in this community project
"EAT WELL! LIVE WELL!"
To the members of our committee, it
was heart-warming to have such a
good turn-out to our NUTRITION
MONTH PRESENTATION on
March 31 st. Obviously, many
women (of all ages) are interested in
the special nutrition needs of women.
THANK YOU for your support!
A special thanks to Alma Davies
(pianist) Irene Gruninger (skit author
and participant) and Cathy
Gruninger, Donna Kearl and Cynthia
Harris (other skit participants), for
helping to set the mood for our
evening in such a fun way.
The main message of the
presentation was the need:
1— to eat a healthy diet (at least most
of the time) by following the Canada
Food Guide to Healthy Eating and
choosing a low fat high fibre diet
more often.
2— to participate in and enjoy
physical activity on a regular basis
(special thanks to the Town's very
generous gift of a 3-in-l Family
Recreation Pass) and
3— to feel good about yourself.
Helpful tips such as the idea given by
Magrath Hospital’s Dietician, Kris
Alston, to try substituting applesauce
for oil in our baking, helped to make
the information very practical.
Sandy Fox, the Magrath Hospital's
R.O.T. has shared with us the recipe
for the delicious muffins that her
staff donated to our luncheon.
Remember ladies,
"EAT WELL! LIVE WELL!"
applies to your families as well as to
yourselves. The 1994 National
Nutrition Month Theme is going to
be Nutrition and Children.

THE COOKIE JAR
by Edgar A. Guest
You rig up the house with all manner
of things,
The prayer rug of sultans and princes
and kings;
You can hang on its walls the old
tapestries rare
Which some dead Egyptian once
treasured with care;
But though costly and gorgeous its
furnishings are,
It must have, to be homelike, an old
cookie jar.
There are just a few things that a
home must possess,
Besides all your money and all your
success—
A few good old books which some
loved one has read,
Some trinkets of those whose sweet
spirits have fled,
And then in the pantry, not shoved
back too far
For the hungry to get to, that old
cookie jar.
Let the house be a mansion, I care
not at all!
Let the finest of pictures be hung on
each wall,
Let the carpets be made of the
richest velour,
And the chairs only those which
great wealth can procure,
I'd still want to keep for the joy of
my flock
That homey, old-fashioned, well-filled
cookie crock.
Like the love of the Mother it shines
through the years;
It has soothed all our hurts and has
dried away tears;
It has paid us for toiling; in sorrow
or joy,
It has always shown kindness to each
girl and boy ;
And I'm sorry for people, whoever
they are,
Who live in a house where there’s no
cookie jar.

THREE CHEERS FOR VOLUNTEERS
Being a Volunteer
It's not for money, it’s not for fame,
It’s not for any personal gain,
It’s just for love of fellow man,
It's just to lend a helping hand
It's just to give a tithe of self,
That's something you can’t buy with wealth,
It's not for medals won with pride,
It’s for that feeling deep inside.
It’s that reward down in your heart,
It’s that feeling that you've been a part
Of helping others far and near.
That makes you be a volunteer!

Thank you all Volunteers everywhere.

The Diamond Willow Terrace Lodge had their
first "Furnish the Folks Fundraiser" meeting
on Sept 13 at 8pm. The lower lounge area was
filled with enthusiastic volunteers willing to
help make our fundraiser on Oct. 14th a
success. "Furnish the Folks" Fundraiser will
be held on Friday, Oct. 14th 7:30-12:30am at
the Magrath Auditorium with Mr. Reed
Coleman as Master of Ceremonies.
This evening will feature a Variety Revue
performance by, none other that, Richard and
Deborah Popowich and promises to be an
action-packed, Las Vegas style night of
entertainment. In addition to the show, there
will be a silent auction and a dance.
Why are we going to all this trouble you ask?
As you may have heard, our Lodge has
received an extensive 'facelift' this year. In
fulfilling our commitment to provide first class
accommodations for our residents, we have
performed a number of renovations that
include: a new roof, new ceilings, new drapes,
new linoleum, new carpets, and interior
painting.
st at 6
.’otluck
Although the renovations may have temporarily
disrupted living conditions at the Lodge, the
residents and staff are agreed that the end
results were worth any sacrifices that had to
be endured. The recent modifications to our
building have helped to create an attractive
setting and a welcoming, comfortable
atmosphere for all that enter.
Unfortunately, the finishing touches of our
renovation efforts are still uncompleted. Our
limited financial resources have been used up.
Nevertheless, we fell that it is necessary to ****
provide new dining room chairs and tables for^ je c|j
our residents and to recover all of our existing see t
common area furniture. One reason for c]as
desiring these additional furniture-related (25?/
investments is that the current orange and gold^°^
chairs seem a bit out of place with dusty rose r****
drapes and blue carpet.
Therefore, our "Furnish the Folks" ?WN j
fundraiser has been planned to accomplish twow
important objectives. Not only are we desirou^
to sponsor a fun-filled evening of family
entertainment for the benefit of the community,

THANK YOU
I wish to express my Thanks to all who made
my 90th Birthday Celebration such a special
day for me. To all my dear friends and
relatives - especially those who travelled such
great distances to be here: to those who
brought gifts, all the delicious food to my
home, all those who sent such beautiful cards
and letters, and to Keith and Donna Hunter for
catering and kitchen duties - my sincerest
thanks and appreciation.
My deepest, heartfelt love and gratitude to
my family:
Keith and Lillian Bennett
Roger and Janice Bennett
Lori Bennett
And their families for all the time and
organization on my behalf. The love of one's
family is a great blessing.
And I am truly blessed.
It was a day that will be forever treasured
and held close to my heart.
Thank You,
Bertha Bennett.

A certain man, whose hair was rapidly thinning, was very particular about the way he wanted it cut. He was so critical of practically every snip of the scissors that his exasperated barber hated to see him come into his shop.
One time, after a particularly annoying succession of directions and protests, the man concluded with an order to part his hair in the middle.
When the barber replied that he couldn’t, the customer became irate and demanded to know why
“Well, it’s this way, sir,’’ explained the barber, “you have an odd number of hairs.”AUGUST 5 - 10

I recently bought a cute book "Stepmothers Try Harder" by Penny Humphrey.
Stepmothers truly are made, not born.
You might think stepmothers are created by a marriage ceremony. Wrong. Only schemes & dreams will make a genuine stepmother.
A stepmother figures she ought to go out at 11 pm to get her stepchild a banana split, since he had asked if she had any in the house.
On a shimmering summer afternoon, she's the one who agrees to play catcher when her stepchild wants to work on his fastball. Stepmothers will enthusiastically bite into a well-constructed peanut butter, marshmallow and banana sandwich. Stepmothers cook two Thanksgiving dinners each year - one the weekend before when their stepchild visits. Stepmothers never think their stepchildren are bad - once in a while they are mistakenly not good. A stepmother has pipe dreams that someday one of her step-grandchildren will be named after her. Stepmothers cry when they are invited to mother-daughter dinners by their stepdaughters.
Why are they so daring? So courageous? Because a stepmother will do just about anything to try to get her stepchild to smile. After a smile comes like. And sometimes after like comes love.MORE GROCERY SPECIALS AUGUST 5 - 10
