Derivation of the bidomain equations for a beating heart with a general microstructure
A novel multiple scales method is formulated that can be applied to problems which have an almost periodic microstructure not in Cartesian coordinates but in a general curvilinear coordinate system. The method is applied to a model of the electrical activity of cardiac myocytes and used to derive a version of the bidomain equations describing the macroscopic electrical activity of cardiac tissue. The treatment systematically accounts for the nonuniform orientation of the cells within the tissue and for deformations of the tissue occurring as a result of the heart bea

Geo. T. Chapman to Mr. Allan R. Buller, 1955 June 5, TLS, 2 pp. -- Mr. Chapman, General Manager of Loma Linda Food Company, writes to Mr. Buller, Manager of Worthington Foods, Inc. about the matter of joint sponsorship. His company already sponsors the work of Miss Dorothea Van Gundy who is conducting classes similar to the Vollmer’s classes. They sponsor her indirectly through an organization called International Nutrition Research Foundation. Mr. Chapman does not think it is wise to join in sponsorship as Loma Linda Food Company in the sponsorship of the Vollmers. Also it might be difficult for Worthington Foods to join forces with International Nutrition Research Foundation and sponsor them too. Not only that, Loma Linda Foods would be at a disadvantage since their sponsorship is not public

He states that their board has voted yes in to give money to the Vollmers for their schools with an allowance of $250 to assist with expenses. He truly appreciates all of their good work, and prays that God richly blesses them both
