Anchocerus giganteus is similar to A. pengzhongi Hu & Li, 2012 in general appearance, but can be separated by coarser punctation of the head, by the shorter temples (twice as long as eyes) and by the paramere of the aedeagus with two short branches. Distribution.     Development Paths of Characteristic Towns in Underdeveloped Areas in Central China—— A Case Study of Yichun, Jiangxi

    The demonstration effect triggered by the construction of Zhejiang’s characteristic towns has attracted attention and learning from all over the country, and has set off a boom in building characteristic towns across the country. Under the dual constraints of industrial development and resource intensive use, the undeveloped areas of central China must find suitable development paths for characteristic towns. Taking Yichun City as an example, this article analyzes the advantages of Yichun City for developing characteristic towns combining its natural and economic conditions. In addition, the characteristic town development paths, such as vigorously promoting the construction of urban facilities, highlighting the characteristics relying on existing small towns, constructing an industrial chain of “ecology + leisure”, highlighting cultural charm, and improving development grade, are proposed to provide useful reference for the development of characteristic towns in this type of underdeveloped cities in central China

    Using GIS and Random Forests to identify fire drivers in a forest city, Yichun, China

    Forest city (FC) usually refers to an urban area with high forest coverage. It is a green model of urban development that has been strongly advocated for by governments of many nations. Forest fire is a prominent threat in FC development, but the causes of fires in FCs are usually different and more complex than in pure forested areas since more socio-economic factors and human activity are involved in the ignition and spread of fire. The large and increasing number of lives being exposed to wildfire hazard highlights the need to understand the characteristics of these fires so that forest fire prediction and prevention can be efficient. In this study, Ripley's K(d) function and Random Forests (RF) were applied to analyze the drivers, spatial distribution and risk patterns of fires in Yichun, a typical FC in China. The results revealed a clustered distribution of forest fire ignitions in Yichun, as well as identified the driving factors and their dynamic influence on fire occurrence. Fire risk zones were identified based on RF modelling. Improved preventive measures can be implemented in the fire prone areas to reduce the risk of fire in Yichun by considering the factors identified in this study

    Identification of Shrinkage and Growth Patterns of a Shrinking City in China Based on Nighttime Light Data: A Case Study of Yichun

    Urban shrinkage has become a topic of major concern to scholars of geography and urban science. However, the methods of identifying urban shrinkage and growth have mostly focused on traditional statistical methods, and studies based on nighttime light (NTL) data are rare. Here, we use the NTL data for 56 months from 2012 to 2019 obtained by the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) on board the Suomi National Polar Orbiting Partnership (NPP) to identify the shrinkage and growth patterns of Yichun in China, by calculating the slope of the NTL radiance value after denoising. At the same time, by combining high-resolution Google satellite images and traditional demographic data, we analyzed the shrinkage characteristics of Yichun. The results of the study confirmed the characteristics of partial shrinkage in China&rsquo;s shrinking cities. In addition, the use of NPP-VIIRS NTL data was able to more accurately identify the urban shrinkage and growth patterns, and may also be seen to present a more objective picture of reality, thus providing a new perspective for studies of urban shrinkage
