Electrical design for a 10kW photovoltaic trough concentrator system installed at the Murdoch University South Street Campus
The Electrical design of the 10kW Photovoltaic (PV) Trough Concentrator System involves the use of equipment from the original Rockingham Campus PV system to achieve the aim of exporting power to the South West Interconnected System (SWIS) electrical grid. The 10kW system has been designed to all relevant Australian Standards, in particular AS5033:2005 Installation of photovoltaic (PV) arrays and AS4777:2005 Grid connection of energy systems via inverters.Using the university’s Spire Solar Simulator, all 80 of the photovoltaic receivers have been tested for functionality and degradation, and from these test results the most suitable 40 receivers in terms of power output and mismatch effects were selected and installed.
The results have been documented and placed into the university’s engineering computer directory for future reference. The test results have enabled the electrical design and configuration for the PV array to be completed with the inverter and associated electrical equipment specified.Part B of this report involved two additional projects that were undertaken. The first being the overhaul of an unsafe PV array structure that required major repairs to enable the array to be moved, and the second, the design and implementation of two new structures including fabrication and construction of new beams, bearings and gearboxes, to enable future PV arrays to be constructed for future use by engineering students. These two tasks required project management skills to liaise, communicate and supervise with contractors that were sourced for the projects. The projects were completed safely and to a high standard. The 10 kW PV array, though not yet electrically connected, has shown under concentration tests that it can produce up to approximately 80% of its rated output power when the receivers are aligned correctly. In view of the above, the PV array when connected should perform close to design specifications and should be an invaluable tool for the learning requirements of future engineering students

Analysis of some localized boundary-domain integral equations for transmission problems with variable coefficients
This is the post-print version of the Article. The official published version can be found at the links below - Copyright @ 2011 Birkhäuser Boston. Some segregated systems of direct localized boundary-domain integral equations (LBDIEs) associated with several transmission problems for scalar PDEs with variable coefficients are formulated and analyzed for a bounded domain composed of two subdomains with a coefficient jump over the interface. The main results established in the paper are the LBDIE equivalence to the original transmission problems and the invertibility of the corresponding localized boundary-domain integral operators in corresponding Sobolev spaces function spaces. This research was supported by the EPSRC grant EP/H020497/1: ”Mathematical analysis of Localized Boundary-Domain Integral
Equations for Variable-Coefficient Boundary Value Problems” and partly by the Georgian Technical University grant in the case of the third author
Spectral properties of Andreev reflection from quantum turbulence in 3He-B: What do they tell about turbulent fluctuations?
One of the experimental techniques developed to measure quantum turbulence at low temperatures in 3He-B utilizes the Andreev reflection of thermal quasiparticle excitations from quantized vortices and vortex structures. We present the results of theoretical, numerical, and experimental study of Andreev scattering from quantum turbulence in 3He-B. We analyze the spectral properties of the Andreev reflection and compare these with the spectral properties of superfluid turbulence, and discuss the physical mechanisms responsible for the scaling of spectral densities. Finally, we discuss the relation between our findings and related observables in ordinary turbulence
I.A. Bunin and S.N. Durylin: problems of creative dialogue
The article is devoted to the consideration of the creative connections of I.A. Bunin and S.N. Durylin (1887-1954). In modern literary criticism, the question of studying the creative connections of S.N. Durylin and I.A. Bunin is urgent, which was not touched upon by the researchers. Although Durylin does not belong to the writers of emigration, in Russia he almost immediately finds himself in internal emigration: art works and scientific works were not published. This brought him closer to Bunin’s position. First of all, Durylin is interested in Bunin’s story “The Village”, in which the “Russian question” is touched. But, if in the story “Village” the writer does not fully accept the Bunin idea of Russia as a country of the wild and primeval, then in the “Life of Arseniev” the model of Russian life recreated by the author finds a response in Durylin’s creative consciousness. In the memoir book “In his corner” the author recreates the immanent image of Bunin’s native land. Brings together the writers of the perception of the revolution of 1917 as a “breakdown”, a catastrophe, a lyric narrative, a structureforming function of memory. However, if Bunin’s pre-revolutionary pictures of Russian life are the center of the narrative, then Durylin serves as a background (and a window into an ideal past), the focus of writers’ attention is the post-revolutionary process of the death of the healthy beginnings of Russian life, embodied in the form of snow
